Rapper Kanye West has deactivated his X (formerly Twitter) account following days of controversial posts. Before his account was taken down, the 47-year-old artist thanked X owner Elon Musk for allowing him to express himself.

Kanye West ‘s X Account Deactivated After Series of Offensive Posts

“I’m logging out of Twitter (now X). I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board,” West write in his final post. However, it is unclear whether he deactivated his account himself or X removeed it due to policy violations.

Kanye West’s latest controversy began when he made remarks about pop star Taylor Swift, who was at the Super Bowl supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce. Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles booed Taylor whenever she appeared on the big screen. Referring to her presence at the event, West stated, “If it’s about the culture, why are we letting Taylor Swift be seen on TV singing a song about taking a black man down and accusing of things that can take a black man down for life?” This appeared to reference Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance.

Meanwhile, Kanye West has a long history of conflicts with Taylor, back in 2009 when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. Back then he had supported Beyoncé, saying she had one of the “best videos of all time”.

Celebrities like David Schwimmer publicly urged Elon Musk to ban West from X. Schwimmer highlighted the influence West holds stating, “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform. That’s twice the number of Jews in existence.”

Additionally, West defended music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently in jail on multiple charges including sex trafficking. He also criticized overweight women and posted explicit content. Following these incidents, X flagged his account with a sensitive content warning before it was eventually deactivated.

Before his exit from the social media, Kanye West aired an unexpected Super Bowl commercial, in which he claimed he had spent all production funds on dental work and shot the ad using only an iPhone. After Rakhi Sawant defended Ranveer Allahabadia on the swirling controversy around the show India’s Got Latent, influencer, and one of the previous judges of the show, Uorfi Javed has come forward in their support. Just after an F.I.R was lodged against podcaster and youtuber Ranveer Allahabadia, Samay Raina, and Apoorva Makheja was their indecent remarks on the show, the influencer came up stating a strong opiniong that she does not feel Ranveer should be jailed for his stance.

Uorfi Javed Defends Ranveer Allahabadia

Taking it to her instagram stories, Uorfi Javed lashed out at a certain section of people, who are demanding Ranveer Allahabadia’s arrest for his crass remarks on the controversial show. She penned, “You don’t like certain people, you don’t like the things that they do or say but demanding for them to go to jail for that? Are you serious? Ummmm! I don’t know. Samay is a friend, I have his back but even rest of the people on the panel, what they said was distasteful yes but I don’t think they deserve to go to jail for that”.

Uorfi Javed did not hesitate before passing her opnion and has boldly come out to say whatever she feels. She was also one of the judges in the panel in one of the previous episodes. Others like Rakhi Sawant, Deepak Kalal, Raftaar, Bharti and Harsh Limbachiya have also been called onto the show as judges in different episodes of India’s Got Latent”. The youtube show by Samay Raina has gained immense popularity over the past few months, for the dark humor, and blunt comedy culture being held on the show. However, in the latest episode when renowned podcaster Ranveer Allahabadia put out crass remarks, he was not at all supported by the audience on it.

An F.I.R was also lodged against him and other panel members, after which Allahabadia issued an apology video.He agreed that he should have not said what he said on the episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’, and that comedy is not his forte. He further also added that he would not give any justifications or explainations to the story, but is genuinely seeking an apology from the fans.

Amid Ranveer Allahbadia’s row, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi took to social media to question Indian PM Narendra Modi ’s past endorsement of Ranveer. Sharing an image of Modi presenting Allahbadia an award at the National Creators Award 2024, Gogoi wrote, “I hope PM Modi will look more closely at the people he has endorsed publicly and on social media. In his personal life, he is welcome to support whoever he likes, but the Prime Minister of India must be expected to be more responsible.”

Maharashtra CM and Celebrities React

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also addressed the issue, stating, “I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others. In our society, we have made some rules, and if someone violates them, it is absolutely wrong and action should be taken against them.”

Other public figures also reacted strongly. Former NCW chief and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma expressed her concerns. Lyricist Manoj Muntashir and singer B Praak were among the celebrities who spoke against Allahbadia. B Praak even canceled his scheduled appearance on Allahbadia’s podcast stating, “We need to protect our Indian culture. I cannot support such behavior.”

Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Ranveer’s indecent remarks on India’s Got Latent, the actress reacted to Ranveer’s public apology and urged people to forgive him.

Rakhi Sawant Comes In Ranveer’s Support

Actions are yet to be taken, however a complaint was submitted in the Bombay High Court, as people seemed disappointed post his viral comment. Several ministers and members of different community groups have asked to take down the video.

Later in the afternoon, Ranveer Allahabadia had issued an apology via a video, where he accepted his mistake and added no justifications to it. He said, “Comedy is not my forte. I accept that I did wrong”. However, the criticism rose to such a peak, that fans were not happy even after the apology and were outraged by the “filthy” comments made in the show by everyone.

Amid this all, Rakhi Sawant’s support towards the pocaster seems unique. She might have to face the consequences by the audience as they might begin to sever backlash for her defending Ranveer’s distasteful comment, made in the public.

B Praak Calls Out Content That Sends a ‘Wrong Message’

In his video shared on social media, B Praak expressed disappointment with the kind of humour being presented publicly, questioning whether it could even be considered comedy. He said, “I was supposed to appear on a podcast, on Beer Biceps, and we cancelled that. Why? Since we are all seeing how pathetic his thinking is. The choice of words that he has used on Samay Raina’s show.”

Adding on, he further added, “Ye humara Indian culture nahi hai. Ye humara culture hi nahi hai. Ap apne parents ke kaun si story bata rahe ho? Ap unki kaun si baatein kar rahe ho? Ye comedy hain? This is not at all comedy. Logo ko gaaliyan dena, logon ko gaaliyan sikhana, ye kaun si generation… mereko samajh hi nahi aa raha (This is not our Indian culture. What story are you telling about your parents? What are you even talking about them? Is this comedy? You are abusing people, teaching them how to abuse… I fail to understand this generation).”

FIR Filed Against Ranveer Allahbadia and Others

The controversy erupted after Ranveer Allahbadia, during an episode of “India’s Got Latent” posed a question to a contestant that many found offensive. He explained that any disagreements during the film’s production were between the producer and financier, and he was not involved in them. “We never had any disagreement between us. While the audience was enthralled by their dynamic performances, Malayalam actor Alencier Ley Lopez, who observed their scenes closely, offered a notably critical perspective after witnessing their portrayals.

During a media interaction, Alencier who played a judge in the film – spoke about his experience working on Vettaiyan. Taking everyone by surprise, he said, “I realised Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan don’t know how to act.” This comment has sparked controversy, leaving fans baffled by his observational skills and blunt response.

As Lopez reveals further on how he became a part of the film, he said, that he did not charge a single rupee for the film. All that happened was that he was sent a flight ticket for Mumbai, and was given an accommodation in one of the five-star hotels. As he sheds more light on his role, he begins with the real confrontation, “I just had to sit there as a judge for one shot and opposite me, on either sides were Amitabh Bachchan sir and Rajinikanth sir,”.

The Malyalam actor cracked up jokingly, “During my pre-degree days, I have seen Rajini sir stopping the whirring blades of a helicopter with his bare teeth. So, I wanted to see how he acts in front of the camera. During the Vettaiyan shoot, I saw him perform his stylised form of acting, his body language, and walking out of the courtroom. Then, Amitabh Bachchan would roar like a lion, and I have to act shocked after all this.”

He added, “I realised I couldn’t compete with them because I didn’t know enough stylised acting nor do I have a deep baritone. All I can do is perform in films made by the likes of Dileesh Pothan, Sharan Venugopal and Rajeev Ravi. Also, I realised that they cannot act.” The actor was already aware of the controversy his remarks would generate, and accepted that they could attract media attention and potentially hinder his prospects in Tamil cinema. But his blunt opinion,came out without any hesitation, as he claimed, “To be honest, I merely took the chance to evaluate their performance, rather than aiming to build a career in Tamil,”
