Popular Indian podcaster and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known for his engaging interviews has found himself at the centre of controversy. During his appearance at one of the recent episodes of India’s Got Latent, a question he asked a female contestant sparked widespread criticism. Leading to many have called out the influencer over his remarks including politicians and celebrities, criticized Ranveer Allahbadia’s inappropriate and offensive.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Questions PM Narendra Modi ’s Endorsement
Amid Ranveer Allahbadia’s row, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi took to social media to question Indian PM Narendra Modi ’s past endorsement of Ranveer. Sharing an image of Modi presenting Allahbadia an award at the National Creators Award 2024, Gogoi wrote, “I hope PM Modi will look more closely at the people he has endorsed publicly and on social media. In his personal life, he is welcome to support whoever he likes, but the Prime Minister of India must be expected to be more responsible.”

Maharashtra CM and Celebrities React
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also addressed the issue, stating, “I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others. In our society, we have made some rules, and if someone violates them, it is absolutely wrong and action should be taken against them.”

Other public figures also reacted strongly. Former NCW chief and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma expressed her concerns. Lyricist Manoj Muntashir and singer B Praak were among the celebrities who spoke against Allahbadia. B Praak even canceled his scheduled appearance on Allahbadia’s podcast stating, “We need to protect our Indian culture. I cannot support such behavior.”
Following the backlash, Ranveer Allahbadia recently released a public apology via a video. He admitted his mistake, saying, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry… My comment wasn’t just inappropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry.”
The controversy led to multiple police complaints against Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, and other individuals associated with the show.
The debate continues over accountability in digital content creation. As public figures face scrutiny, many believe responsibility should be exercised while producing content. The controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent has once again highlighted the fine line between entertainment and respect.
