‘Gimme More’ singer Britney Spears is officially engaged to her longline love, actor, and fitness enthusiast Sam Asghari. Spears took Instagram to made the official announcement of engagement with an adorable video on Sunday.
The video starts with Britney showing off her ring before being asked by Sam Asghari, “Do you like it?” An elated Britney Spears replied, “Yes!” The 39-year-old actress is seen waving her hand with the massive diamond ring in front of the camera with a slight grin before kissing a smiling Sam on the cheek. Showing the ring on her finger with Sam, she shared the news on Instagram and wrote, “I can’t f**ing believe it.” She added several ring emojis in her caption.
Meanwhile, Sam Asghari shared a close-up shot of Britney Spears’ engagement ring on his Instagram with the prince and princess emoticons. He also tagged Britney in the post.
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari fell in love at first sight. They met on the sets of the singer’s Slumber Party music video in 2016.
“The couple made their longstanding relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication, and love expressed to them,” Asghari’s manager Brandon Cohen added in a statement to Billboard, noting that Spears’ ring was designed by New York City jeweler Roman Malayev.
Paris Hilton congratulated the couple in the comments section. She commented, “Congratulations, love! So happy for you! Welcome to the club!” She has always been one of Britney Spears’ loudest cheerleaders on social media.
The news comes days after her father, Jamie Spears filed a petition in a Los Angeles court to end the conservatorship that has controlled the singer’s life and money for 13 years. Earlier she revealed that the terms of her father’s 13-year conservatorship prevented her from marrying Sam Asghari and having kids. Britney told a judge in June that she wanted to marry Asghari and have a baby with him during an impassioned plea to end the conservatorship. She added that she had not been allowed to remove an intrauterine device for birth control or even drive with him. Legally, Spears can get married, but the conservatorship must approve it as with other major life decisions.
Sam Asghari in an interview with Forbes said he looks forward to having kids soon, “I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting. I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don’t mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad.”
Britney Spears was previously married to Jason Alexander in 2004 and split in a few months. The same year, Britney Spears married dancer Kevin Federline. They get divorced in 2007. The former couple shares two kids.
