There was a time when there existed ‘animosity’ and ‘discomfort’ among Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt. While each may have had a relationship with Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor at different junctures, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have since transcended any past issues between them. Katrina discovered love with Vicky Kaushal, Deepika likewise found joy with Ranveer Singh, and Alia and Ranbir embarked on their family journey, welcoming their first child, Raha.
In a 2019 throwback interview with Elle India, Katrina was asked how she managed to maintain a “friendship” with Alia, who was then involved with Ranbir, and her cordial connection with Deepika, who had ended her relationship with the ‘Animal’ star in 2009.
Answering the same, Katrina told Rajeev Masand, “It comes from realizing that these things don’t matter. Me holding on to resentment or a grudge isn’t going to change the situation. It boils down to logic. But I’m human. Yeah, I feel bad, I cry. I feel devastated. And then, I get back up and say, it’s fine. Something’s coming, something’s coming. As for the uncomfortable equation I once had with Deepika. I just react to instinct. I don’t feel that animosity or discomfort between us anymore. I felt happy to let that go”.
Katrina had also been present at Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding reception in 2018. Deepika, who extended an invitation to her for the Mumbai reception, had shared with Filmfare during that period, “A lot of water has flown under the bridge. For me, just the fact that she (Katrina) came and was very present was gracious.”
She added, “I’ve always been fond of her (Katrina). You know, just the way that she’s been over the years, and with her work and I have a lot of respect for that. I made my peace with her”.
