Sonu Nigam Takes A Dig at A.R. Rahman’s Composed Chartbuster ‘Chiggy Wiggy,’ Says: ‘Bohot He Bekaar Gaana Hai’

Sonu Was Also Involved In A Controversy Back In 2020 When He Spoke About The 'Music Mafia' Culture In The Industry.

Star singer Sonu Nigam is one of the most popular Bollywood singers, but sometimes his controversial statements garner more attention than his soundtracks. Recently, in an interview with Red FM, Nigam took a dig at the song ‘Chiggy Wiggy,’ which is composed by the musical maestro A.R. Rahman and is interestingly sung by Sonu himself.

The singer said, “Chiggy Wiggy bohot hi bekaar gana hai. I don’t like the song at all. I don’t know why Rahman made such a bad song. I mean, how can they get Kylie Minogue on board and make such a bad song? I felt good that he thought about me for the song, but with Kylie Minogue, the standards could have been higher. But sometimes, even Rahman can make mistakes. But I do not like the song at all. The song could have been much better. With Kylie Minogue, we could have made a song at her level. I tried a lot to sing this song on stage and revive it.”

The film ‘Blue’ was a high-budget multi-star cast film of its time, starring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, Lara Dutta, and Katrina Kaif, with massive hype. The movie’s chartbuster song ‘Chiggy Wiggy’ was a sensational hit, and the nation was grooving to it. The song also featured Australian popstar singer-actress Kylie Minogue, marking her first collaboration in India, which generated immense excitement among the country’s audience. The song was shot on a grand scale and remains one of the most expensive songs in Bollywood to date.

Sonu was also involved in a controversy back in 2020 when he spoke about the ‘Music Mafia’ culture in the industry, indirectly targeting T-Series owner and his old friend, Bhushan Kumar. However, both were seen together again at Nigam’s 50th Birthday Bash event this year, and they sorted out their differences.

Nigam’s statement on Rahman has sparked a fresh controversy and is trending on social media. We await A.R. Rahman’s response to the entire issue.
