Bollywood actress, Ameesha Patel, who is on cloud nine after the massive success of Gadar 2, has witnessed the film achieve smashing success even after a gap of two decades. ‘Gadar 2: The Katha Continues’ has emerged as one of the top- grossing films of the year 2023. This film has brought Ameesha’s career back on track, as she had faced a few unsuccessful films in the past and had not been very active in the industry. In a recent revelation, Ameesha Patel recounted an intriguing event from the past, where she disclosed that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali had suggested her to retire after watching Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

In a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha Patel discussed how her life transformed after the releases of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. She shared the incident when Sanjay Leela Bhansali asked her to retire after he watched the original “Gadar” in 2001. She shared, “After watching Gadar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali wrote a truly beautiful complimentary letter to me. During a meeting with him, he said, ‘Ameesha, you should retire now.’ I was thinking, ‘Why?’ I didn’t understand.”

“Because you have already achieved in two films what most people don’t achieve in their entire careers. Once in a lifetime, a ‘Mughal-e-Azam,’ ‘Mother India,’ ‘Pakeezah,’ or ‘Sholay’ gets made. You had that in your second film. So, what’s next?” she recalled. The actress confessed that she didn’t entirely grasp the significance of his words back then, as she was relatively young and new to the film industry.
