Well-known theatre artist Manoj Chetan Singh Kaira has recently made his OTT debut with ALT Balaji’s Crimes and Confessions. After his big debut under Ekta Kapoor’s banner, the actor is delighted and hopeful that more exciting projects would come his way.

In an exclusive interview with us, Manoj Chetan Singh Kaira spoke about his 9 years of struggle in the Bollywood industry. He said, “I started my acting career in Delhi. To be honest, I had gone to the capital city for my graduation. Eventually, I started modelling but quit it because I wasn’t satisfied. Something felt missing. That’s when I joined the Asmita Theatre Group in Delhi. I did theatre for about 3 years and then I got an opportunity to act in Javed Ali’s music video. That was my first commercial project where I faced the camera. That’s how I got a kickstart to my acting career. Then I came to Mumbai to explore my cinema life. But it’s a tough industry. Back in my mind, I thought that I would get opportunities since I have featured in Javed Ali’s video.”

He said laughingly, “I thought that I would run into Subhash Ghai at someplace and he would recognise me from my music video and sign me. But it doesn’t work like that.”

Talking about Crimes and Confessions, he said, “It took me 9 years to get this debut as a lead.”

When asked about how he got the role, Manoj said, “The director of the series noticed my photo on WhatsApp and liked my look. However, he had not seen my work. So, he asked me to send my audition. I recorded the monologue and sent them. They loved it and that’s how I was locked.”

Talking about his character, he said that it has many shades. “I turn from a possessive lover to an evil guy. So, there’s a whole journey of my character,” he elaborated.

Manoj mentioned that playing this character was not difficult for him because he has played all kinds of roles in theatre.

Manoj Chetan Singh will soon be seen in Applause Entertainment’s web series directed by National award-winner director E Niwas. More details will be announced soon.
