Oscar Winning Actress Gwyneth Paltrow Talks About Giving Up Roles In Films For Her Children

In a recent interview the Shakespeare In Love actress got candid about turning down film roles for the sake of her family.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken up about the cinematic sacrifices she made while raising her two kids. According to The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed turning down a number of amazing parts in films for her family’s sake.

In an interview with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on the American daytime talk show Today With Hoda & Jenna, Gwyneth revealed that she turned down some amazing roles in order to raise her son and daughter.

“I mean it’s funny because it didn’t feel like a sacrifice to me at the time, but if I look back at it through a cultural lens, I think like, wow, if people know that I didn’t do this movie or that movie, they’d be quite shocked,” she added.

“Well, it’s kind of ironic because I really stepped away from acting when Apple was born,” she stated. “The last time I was in every scene of a movie was when I was pregnant with her. When I had her, it just, everything felt redefined for me, and I thought, ‘I’m not sure that I want to do this so much as a career. I definitely don’t want to…. I’m not going to go away for months on end.”

While Paltrow has starred in several films, such as Shakespeare in Love, Sliding Doors  and the Iron Man series, she started to pick her roles far more carefully after having kids.
