&TV’s popular sitcom ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai’ recently completed 1600 episodes. The show has been airing since 2015 and has managed to stay on top of TRP charts in all these years. In a recent interview with us, the show’s lead actor Rohitashv Gour said that he never thought that the show would achieve this milestone.
Rohitashv, who plays the role of Manmohan Tiwari in the show said, “When the show began in 2015, we thought that the audience might not accept its concept. A man loves another man’s wife- we believed that the Indian audience might reject the show right away by calling it vulgar. All the artists assumed that the show will shut in just 3 months and we will have to find some other work. But it’s been 6 years now and is going strong.”
He also mentioned that he wasn’t interested in doing this show when it was first offered to him. Rohitashv said, “I was skeptical about doing it. &TV was a new channel and I thought that the show will not get an audience. But it was my wife who persuaded me to take up this role. She told me that if I am getting a lead role at this age, I shouldn’t throw away this opportunity. And I am so glad that I took her suggestion and came on board.”
When asked about the time when two lead actors, Shilpa Shinde and Saumya Tandon left the show, Rohitashv said, “When Shilpa Shinde quit the show, I got very scared. She was the pillar of the show and was immensely popular among the audience. The Bhabi Ji of the show titled ‘Bhabi Ji’ was going to quit and we all were in a state of panic. But the channel and the producer worked hard. They carried out the auditions and finally found Shubhangi Atre for the role. So, those were some really testing times.”
Rohitashv had struggled for years before finally getting the much-deserved fame. He said, “I was never offered anything served on a platter. I struggled for every single thing.”
Rohitashv joined the National School Of Drama, Delhi in 1986 and moved to Mumbai in 1989. After staying for few months in the city of dreams, his health deteriorated and he had to move back to Delhi to do theatre. Years later, he again came back to Mumbai to try into films and Television. He did small roles in films like Munnabhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, A Wednesday etc. He even featured in various TV serials. But things changed for good when he joined the sitcom ‘Laptaganj’ as lead that aired from 2009 to 2014. And in 2015, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai happened, which brought him household fame.
Rohitashv Gour has two beautiful daughters- Giti Gour and Sanjiti Gour. The actor is not only entertaining his fans on Television but has also been bringing smiles to people’s faces on social media. He, along with his daughters make interesting Instagram reels that go viral in no time. Rohitashv told that his wife asked him to keep up with the trends as change is the law of nature.
Rohitashv said that his co-star Shubhangi Atre taught him how to dance and now his daughters are helping him too. He also mentioned that his elder daughter Giti aspires to be an actor and is prepping herself for this goal.
