Punjab’s famous singer and Congress party leader Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Mansa district. An FIR has been registered a day after his murder. The matter has given rise to a major political dispute with the Congress demanding the dismissal of Bhagwant Mann’s government. He was killed a day after the state government reduced his security amid a crackdown on ‘VIP culture.’ The relatives have refused to conduct a post-mortem of the body.
However, Sidhu Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh recently wrote a letter to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, demanding justice for his son. His father claimed that the current government should be held responsible for his son’s death. Balkaur Singh also requested to initiate an investigation on the matter and to hold the ones responsible for Sidhu’s killing.
In a note, he wrote, “Mann Ji, because of the failures of your government, my son Shubhdeep Singh has left us forever. His mother asks me where is my son and when will he return home. How do I answer her? In order to get justice for my family, I request that this matter be investigated by the Hon’ble sitting Judge of the High Court.”
Balkaur also demanded the intervention of CBI and NIA in the case and urged the AAP government to cooperate with them. He wrote, “Fix the accountability of the officer who reviewed my son’s security and decided to remove safety cover from my son,”. Rubbishing the speculations of linking with the gang, “My son made Punjab famous all over the world by his hard work but DGP Punjab linked my son’s death with gang war.”
Meanwhile Sidhu’s father Balkaur Singh says that as soon as he came to know that Sidhu Moose Wala had left the house without a guard, Balkaur Singh followed Sidhu with two police security personnel in his car.

While reacting on the matter Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann has decided to issue a judicial probe into the case after Moose Wala’s father wrote to him seeking an investigation by CBI, NIA, or a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court. A sitting judge of the high court will probe the killing, Bhagwant Mann has decided. The government will also investigate the decision to trim Moose Wala’s security. A Special Investigation Team has already been set up to investigate Moose Wala’s murder.
According to the reports, a statement has been issued earlier from Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s office quoting the chief minister is taking every update on the case and will also hold a meeting with senior police officials later today.
