Taylor Swift Feels Lucky And Thanks Her Fans For Support

Taylor Swift skipped VMAs as she wanted to take it easy following the re-release of Red.

Taylor Swift has recently said she is ‘so lucky’ to be in her fans’ lives as she accepted the award for Favourite Pop Album for Evermore at the American Music Awards on Sunday. The singer, 31, who also bagged the award for Favourite Female Pop Artist, appeared through video call remotely after reportedly wanting to ‘take a break’ following the release of her re-recorded album Red.

In her video acceptance speech, she said, “Thank you so much to the fans, this is such an amazing honor. The fact that you would do this for Evermore, I’ve always been so proud of this album. Swift added, “I’ve always looked at evermore as sort of Folklore’s adventurous, fun younger sister. So, thank you so much for doing this.” All Too Well went on saying, “Also, I just wanted to say to the fans, thank you for all the amazing support that you have thrown my way with Red my version. It’s been so much fun. I’m so lucky to be in your life and to get to have you in mine. Have a great night. Love you guys.”

However, according to Hollywood Life, Taylor skipped the award ceremony as she wanted to take it easy following the re-release of Red, which originally came out in 2012. A source said, “Taylor will not be at the American Music Awards as she is going to have her SNL appearance speak for itself and be the performance of record, especially since it hasn’t even been a week for that performance to live.”

The source also said, “Taylor loves the AMAs but she is choosing to skip this year as she wants to make her appearances and performances be somewhat spaced out to add to the impact that it will bring. She’s confident that she will be on the AMA stage in the future, but this year she is taking a break. There is no ulterior motive or issue for her not going, it just is her schedule to relax, get ready for the holidays, and all that good stuff.”

Although, Taylor began working on her version of Red as a response to Scooter Braun’s sale of her master recordings. The controversy regarding Taylor’s tracks began in 2019, when the 40-year-old media mogul acquired Big Machine Records, who released her first six albums, for a nine-figure sum. The performer shared her feelings about the sale known through a post that was shared to her Tumblr account, where she denounced the actions taken by Braun.

Taylor claimed that she had been attempting to purchase the rights to her master tapes for years, although Big Machine’s president, Scott Borchetta, alleged that he had made her an offer that was ultimately declined. Taylor later remarked that the two had prevented her from performing her older material at the American Music Awards of 2019 and using the same tracks in the 2020 documentary Miss Americana.
