English Vinglish actor Adil Hussain has been in the spotlight following his admission of regretting his involvement in the 2019 film, Kabir Singh. Despite criticism from the film’s director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Hussain has reaffirmed that he will maintain his stance regardless of the circumstances.

Adil Hussain’s Controversial Statement On Doing “Kabir Singh”

For the unversed, Adil Hussain was recently featured on AP Podcast’s YouTube channel, where he discussed his involvement in Kabir Singh and expressed regret regarding his role. He recounted entering the theater to watch the film but leaving after only 20 minutes. Describing the film as “misogynist,” he stated that he wouldn’t even recommend it to his wife.

“I think a film like this celebrates something which is not beneficial for society. It legitimises male misogyny. It legitimises violence against anybody, for that matter, doesn’t have to be a woman. And it celebrates it, it glorifies it, and it should not be glorified”.

Subsequently, Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga responded to Adil Hussain’s remarks, criticizing the actor stating that he regrets casting him and announcing plans to digitally replace Adil’s face in the film using AI.

Now in a recent interview with The Times of India, Adil Hussain was questioned about Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s response to his comment on Kabir Singh. He said, “I’m in the US right now and haven’t seen Sandeep’s post. Neither do I intend to. What I said (about Kabir Singh) was in an interview, and not on social media. I was completely shocked when I saw the film and I regret doing it. I will not change my stand.”
