Hollywood actress Sofia Vergara is getting a divorce from her husband Joe Manganiello after being married for 7 years. The actors issued a statement to Page Six, saying, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people who love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
Meanwhile, a source close to the stars revealed to Page Six, “Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.” Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello tied the knot in Palm Beach, Florida, in November 2015.
Sofia is currently in Italy, enjoying her birthday weekend. She turned 51 on July 10, and in any of her pictures, Joe was not seen. However, the next day, the actor wished her on Instagram, sharing their photo with a simple “Happy Birthday Sofia!!!”
Previously, Joe had described his marriage with Sofia as the right call. In an interview with PEOPLE, he said, “I knew pretty quickly that I could trust her, and she knew pretty quickly that she could trust me. And we’re both the kind of people who are capable of putting the other person ahead of ourselves. I was capable of putting her wishes ahead of mine, whatever they were, and she was capable of doing the same. Once you have that, you don’t let go of it. My instincts about her were right.”
