Shakira’s father, William Mebarak, has been admitted to the hospital for several weeks. He has been experiencing health woes including contracting Covidt, suffering a fall and undergoing several surgeries. Shakira’s 91-year-old father is currently in hospital in Barcelona. Meanwhile, like every ideal daughter, Shakira is trying to make sure to visit him on a regular basis.
However, the singer shared a video from her latest visit, which showed her kissing her unwell father’s feet after he completed a series of strength exercises. The touching video starts with Shakira helping her father in exercising and ended with her kissing William’s feet. Alongside the video, the pop sensation penned in the caption, “Life is something that happens between hospital visits, and Halloween costumes,” indicating she’s spending a lot of time in the hospital with her father.
Just a few days before, Shakira shared a sweet photo of her parents kissing in a hospital, with her father surrounded by medical equipment. The singer captioned the heartwarming snap, “True love.” Shakira is seemingly having the worse time of her life. While her father is in hospital, Shakira has recently split from her partner, Gerard Pique. Shakira and Gerard Piqué parted ways in June this year after being together for 12 years.
Meanwhile, Shakira’s mother, Nidia Ripoll, confirmed that the footballer is still visiting his former father-in-law during his ill health. “Of course, yes,” she said when reporters asked if he had been in the hospital. “We are still family.” Nidia recently said her husband’s condition was ‘stable,’ and that he was soon to be discharged from the hospital, though she did not share what his latest admission was for. “The family asks for respect at this time while waiting to see how this evolves,” Shakira said of her father’s health.
Apart from these, Shakira has also been involved in a Spanish tax fraud case. According to Associated Press, Prosecutors in Spain are seeking a prison term of eight years and two months. The outlet added that she has to pay a fine of about $25 million if the singer is convicted in her expected tax fraud trial.
