Pregnant Jana Kramer Hospitalized During Babymoon

Jana revealed she had been experiencing back pain for over a week, but she believed it was a typical issue related to her pregnancy until a message from one of her social media followers alerted her that it could be more serious.

Pregnant Jana Kramer cut her babymoon short to spend two days in the hospital being treated for a kidney infection. The 39-year-old country singer, who is already a mother to Jace, four, and Jolie, seven, with her ex-husband Mike Caussin, is expecting her first child with her current partner, Allan Russell. They had planned a final holiday in Florida before the birth, but their trip was shortened when Jana experienced crippling back pain and had to be admitted to the hospital.

In a post on Instagram, Jana wrote: “Well, our babymoon didn’t go as planned, but there were some lessons learned. First and foremost, the baby is doing well… The back pain I’ve been dealing with for weeks wasn’t just regular back pain. Lesson number one… don’t dismiss pain, because it can be more serious than you think. So many times, especially moms, we tend to brush off pain because we’re the last ones to take care of ourselves.”

Jana revealed she had been experiencing back pain for over a week, but she believed it was a typical issue related to her pregnancy until a message from one of her social media followers alerted her that it could be more serious.

She added: “When I posted about my back hurting a week ago, I just chalked it up to pregnancy and didn’t tell the doctors because back pain is considered ‘normal,’ so I thought I shouldn’t complain. Then someone very sweet in my DMs sent me a message that it could possibly be my kidney (I’ve since thanked her for her message).

“But not wanting to ruin our babymoon or be, as I can sometimes be (a bit of a hypochondriac), we boarded the plane to Florida. When we landed, I just couldn’t handle the pain anymore, and I started feeling even sicker, so we went to the hospital.

“In short, it was a severe bacterial infection that affected the kidneys. This led to a two-day stay in the hospital and a prescription for antibiotics because I let it go further than I should have.”

She went on to advise others not to delay seeking medical attention when experiencing pain.

Jana concluded: “So, the lesson here is to listen to your body. You’re not a child or causing an inconvenience for people. If you’re in pain, talk to your doctor. Neglecting health concerns for too long or not taking care of yourself when you’re unwell can lead to serious issues. Also, a shout-out to this amazing man who I begged to sleep at the lovely hotel he arranged for us but instead slept on a pull-out chair. Tip: Find a man who doesn’t make you feel guilty or leave your side when you’re unwell. A shout-out to the nurses at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm; you were the sweetest.”
