The renowned British actor, Michael Culver, made his mark on film history with his iconic role as Captain Needa, in the beloved “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back”. Culver passed away at age 85. Alliance Agents confirmed Culver’s passing on February 27 after being represented by them for the past ten years. Alliance Agents released a statement saying, “We are very sad to confirm the passing of our friend and client Michael Culver. The actor passed away on February 27.”

Michael was a versatile actor who worked in film, television and stage. Culver was born into a family of stage actors, with his father Roland, being a stage actor and his mother Daphne, a casting director, and he honed his acting skills at LAM, London Academy of Music. He then went on to pursue a successful career in film and television.

Culver’s most famous film role was Captain Needa (1980) in Star Wars Episode V— The Empire Strikes Back, in which he met his untimely death at the hand of his nemesis, Darth Vader. His other notable roles were Major Mc Bryde (1984) in David Lean’s “A Passage to India”, Jim in “Crossplot”, Lieutenant Bailes in “The Body Stealers”. He also appeared on television in a number of British series, including “Befrienders”, “Cadfael”, “The House of Eliott” and “Murder City”.

Culver is survived by his wife Amanda and children Roderic, Justin, and Susan. He also leaves four grandchildren.
