When Singer Lily Allen Says “My Children Ruin My Stardom”

Lily Allen talked about parenting. She said that her daughters complete her but at the same time, she disclosed that, in terms of pop stardom, they totally ruined it.

Lily Allen, an English singer and songwriter who was a star kid of Keith Allen and Alison Owen, opens up about parenting after a very long time. She shared two children, Ethel Mary and Marnie Rose, with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper. In an interview with Radio Times Podcast, she talked about her kids and parenting. She mentioned that her children ruined her stardom.

Talking about her 11 and 12-year-old kids she said, “My children ruined my career.” But her tone had a humorous touch; she laughed while saying this. Further, she continued, “I love them and they complete me, but in terms of pop stardom, totally ruined it. It really annoys me when people say you can have it all because, quite frankly, you can’t.”

The Smile singer has some harsh memories of her childhood which are difficult for her to forget. She disclosed, “Some people choose their career over their children, and that’s their prerogative. But my parents were quite absent when I was a kid, and I feel like that really left some nasty scars that I’m not willing to, you know, repeat on mine.” That’s the reason she doesn’t want her daughters to go through the same. And hence, the Not Fair singer compromised her stardom over her daughters.

Now she is married to David Harbour in 2020 after her divorce with Cooper. On a professional note, Lily is making her comeback through a podcast named “Miss Me?” with friend Oliver, which will be available from March 14 on BBC Sounds.
