In her recent interview with a global magazine, opening up on her fans reaction towards her transition from signature baggy clothes towards more body hugging and figure fit pieces like the corset that she wore on the cover of British Vogue earlier this year, Billie said, “People hold on to these memories and have an attachment. But it’s very dehumanizing”.

Also apart from losing followers on social media, Billie was subjected to vile and hateful comments from fans in comments section like, “Wonder how long before we actually get to see them”, and “She went from being an anti-pop public figure to being literally like everyone else”. These comments specifically describe how Billie is simultaneously sexualised and held to impossible standards by her fanbase and the world at large.

Referring to recent instagram post in which she posted a picture of herself wearing a corset with a lace bra beneath it, Billie added, “I lost 100,000 followers, just because of the boobs. People are scared of big boobs”.

Explaining on how she feels to have her outfit choices scrutinized by fans on social media on a daily basis, Billie shared, “The other day, I decided to wear a tank top. It wasn’t even a provocative shirt. But I know people are going to say, Holy f*ck, she’s dressing sexy and trying to make a statement. And I’m like, No, I’m not. It’s 500 degrees and I just want to wear a tank top”.

This comes in after she was asked about reason behind switching up her fashion and upping her style quotient in MET Galas by the host Keke Palmer and then Billie had said, “I’ve always wanted to do this. I was just scared. I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin, and it was time”.
