Barbenheimer: A Unique Fusion Of Barbie And Oppenheimer In The Making

Charles Band knows he's playing off the popularity of Barbie and Oppenheimer movies, which caused a lot of buzz on social media.

There’s a new movie in the works called “Barbenheimer.” It’s not a sequel to Barbie or Oppenheimer, but a unique film by B-movie icon Charles Band. In this movie, dolls and bombs play a big role, as reported by Hollywood Reporter.

The story of “Barbenheimer” is about a scientist doll named Dr. Bambi J. Barbenheimer. She lives in a doll town called Dolltopia and doesn’t like how humans treat dolls. So, she decides to do something about it by causing chaos in the real world with a huge nuclear bomb. The movie’s summary humorously says, “They’ve got great looks and a super attitude! Oh, and now they’ve got the bomb.”

Charles Band knows he’s playing off the popularity of Barbie and Oppenheimer movies, which caused a lot of buzz on social media. He thinks it’s a chance to have fun with the mix of Barbie’s fun vibe and Oppenheimer’s serious side, creating a movie with dark humor. He says we could all use a bit of humor in our movies in 2024.

“But it’s also an opportunity to have fun with the bizarre coupling of these two movies and the combination of Barbie’s vibe and the darkness of Oppenheimer. You mix that together and you have such an opportunity for dark humour,” Charles said. “It seems like every other feature is dark and depressing, and it’s like, God, we need a little humour going into 2024,” Said to Hollywood Reporter.

Charles Band is famous for his 1985 cult classic, “Re-Animator.”

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling made over $1 billion worldwide. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer biopic with Cillian Murphy also did well at the box office. Martin Scorsese even called “Barbenheimer” the perfect storm in an interview.
