When Jaya Bachchan Spoke About Her Relationship With Aishwarya Rai: ‘If I Don’t Like Something About Her, I Tell Her To Her Face’

Even Abhishek Bachchan, In An Interview, Revealed How The Two Women Teamed Up Against Him

Jaya Bachchan has an outspoken personality, and she doesn’t shy away from expressing her feelings or speaking straightforwardly. She even maintains this approach with her daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. In an old interview with Rediff, Jaya candidly discussed her relationship with Aishwarya.

“She is my buddy. If I don’t like something about her, I tell her to her face. I don’t engage in politics behind her back. If she disagrees with me, she expresses herself. The only difference is that I can be a little more dramatic, and she has to be more respectful. I am old, you know. That’s all.”

“We really enjoy sitting at home and chatting aimlessly. Just the two of us. She doesn’t have much time, but whatever time we have, we cherish. I have a great relationship with her,” Jaya added.

Even Abhishek Bachchan, in an interview with DNA, revealed how the two women teamed up against him, saying, “Ma and Ash gang up against me, and they start chattering away in Bengali. (Laughs) Mom knows the language because she is Bengali, and Aishwarya had worked with Rituda (the late Rituparno Ghosh) in Chokher Bali, so she also speaks the language quite well. So whenever they want to team up against me, they start speaking in Bengali.”

Abhishek and Aishwarya fell in love on the sets of Dhoom 2, and on January 14, 2007, they got engaged. In April of the same year, they were married at the Bachchan’s bungalow, Prateeksha, in Mumbai. After a few years, they welcomed their child Aaradhya in 2016.

Speaking of Jaya, she was recently seen in Karan Johar’s “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,” alongside Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi. The film was released on July 28 and is still performing well at the box office, having even entered the 100 crore club.
