According to Times OF India reports, superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s security has been elevated to the “Y+ Category” level due to alleged death threats following the success of his all-time blockbuster films ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’. The Maharashtra Government has upgraded SRK’s security, and he will now be safeguarded by 11 security personnel under the “Y+ Category,” a significant increase from the previous protection provided by 2 Mumbai Police personnel.
These death threat reports surfaced shortly after Gauri Khan’s 53rd birthday on October 8th. The actor’s fans celebrated his better half’s birthday enthusiastically on social media. Shah Rukh Khan’s latest release, ‘Jawan,’ has surpassed the Rs. 1100 crore mark at the worldwide box office, establishing itself as Bollywood’s biggest hit. While the film conveys a message about voting wisely in elections, some sections of the audience perceived the plot as anti-establishment. Politicians from various parties also expressed mixed views about the film’s storyline.
Before Shah Rukh Khan, another industry superstar, Salman Khan, received similar death threat calls from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection to the Black Buck court case. Salman’s security was promptly enhanced by the Maharashtra Government, also upgraded to “Y+ Category.” Both Bollywood icons will now be safeguarded by “Y+ Category” security personnel.
Historically, individuals in the film industry have faced threats from the underworld and anti-social elements of society. T-series founder Gulshan Kumar was tragically assassinated by underworld criminals in 1997, which sent shockwaves through the industry. However, in today’s times, the police have become more effective and efficient in providing security to movie stars and combating crime.
Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his highly anticipated film ‘Dunki,’ set to release in cinemas on Christmas this year. Directed by the dynamic Rajkumar Hirani, the film has already generated immense buzz among fans ahead of its release.
