Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai fame Saanand Verma is all set to star in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film titled ‘India Lockdown’. As the title suggests, the film will be based on the lockdown period of 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the entire world. Saanand will be playing a very crucial role in the film.
While talking exclusively with us, Saanand told, “India Lockdown showcases 4 different stories from the lockdown period and each of them will make you emotional at different levels. You’ll be able to relate to each of these stories. Be it the sex workers of Kamathipura, or the story of an air hostess or how a man was isolated in a home, or the story of migrant workers, all these four stories will be entertaining and emotional. It has all the elements that make a great film.”
“I have done something very different in it. I can’t give many details about my character as of now but I can tell you that my story is the most entertaining one. I am in the story which highlights the plight of sex workers of Kamathipura,” he further added.

Saanand feels that this will be Madhur Bhandarkar’s best work. He said, “He has delivered many great films like Chandni Bar, Corporate and Fashion. But I think that India Lockdown is going to be one of the best films by Madhur Bhandarkar. This film is very different. It has been made with very fresh thinking and a unique manner.”
Talking about his experience of working with Madhur Bhandarkar, the actor said, “When I was shooting for the film with Madhur Bhandarkar, I was surprised. I never imagined that he would be such a nice man. His films are a bit darker. So, I thought that he would be serious type. But he is amazing. He makes everyone laugh all the time. He has a very good sense of humor and is a very down-to-earth person.”
Saanand is definitely a big fan of Madhur Bhandarkar as he is the only person that Saanand follows on social media. Commenting on the same, he said, “Yes, I think it is my style statement.”
Meanwhile, the Sacred Games actor is also waiting for the release of his short film ‘Swad’ with Ashnoor Kaur. It is a part of an anthology that will soon release on a leading OTT platform.
