This actress, who used to be in many creative things like watching movies and reading books, had suddenly stopped reading, and she blamed her popularity for that matter.

The most bold and straight forward actress in Bollywood who never shies to share her opinions, Richa Chadha enters into her 38th year of age on December 18. Richa started with the movie “Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!” 2008 as an outsider and has evolved herself to a position of not just an actress but also an opinion builder. This actress, who used to be in many creative things like watching movies and reading books, had suddenly stopped reading, and she blamed her popularity for that matter. In an interview with ‘Chalchitra Talks’ she shared her personal reading and reading as a general topic.

When she was asked about her relationship with reading, she answered, “My relationship with ‘Reading’ was fantastic in my growing up years. I used to read a lot. In fact, my brain grew a lot as I was reading properly. There used to be some comics like ‘Chandamama’, ‘Tarang’ etc. And by 15-16, I was reading Salman Rushdie, became quite smart. Till I was 22, I read a lot. But after 22, I got my first film and…”

After the age of 22, her reading habit had disappeared from her day-to-day life. She continued saying, “Fame destroyed my reading. But I am back to it now. This year, consciously, I have started reading again.”  She blamed her fame because it was always something that came up in her way like she wanted to get ready and go somewhere, or she needed to make a reel and post, because nowadays, there is so much tension on social media for consistency.

Later she shared her understanding of Gen Z not being a book person more. She spent some time on YouTube listening to some Podcasts, and then she realized that Gen Z wants ready to eat knowledge and doesn’t want to indulge themselves in reading. She talked over the kind of anxiety people face about posting anything on social media. She opinionated that kind of lifestyle GenZ kids have and how this is going to be problematic for them.

This “Fukrey” actress is now stepping into production thing. With her mindfulness and  intellectuality., Richa will present her debut production venture in 2024.
