Jenna Ortega Once Decided To Quit Acting, Says, “After Being Stereotyped As Disney Darling…”

She was categorized as a Disney Darling, and thus she didn’t get any substantial role of her age.  Even after entering her teenage, many approached her for child characters.

After experiencing the thrills in the frightening story of “Wednesday” season 1, we are all waiting for season 2. And we are damn sure that no one can give justice to the character of Wednesday better than Jenna Ortega. Wednesday was a break for the actress to show that she can skillfully play any role. Jenna Ortega started her career as a child-actor. Jenna was doing very well; she was getting many opportunities, but that was the moment when Jenna almost gave up and decided to quit acting.

She started with the comedy TV show “Jane The Virgin” where she played the young Jane. Later she appeared in many shows and Disney movies. Her Harley Diaz from “Stuck In The Middle” received an award. After spending almost 7-8 years in this field, Jenna was stereotyped with the same kind of roles and not getting anything new to portray. She was categorized as a Disney Darling, and thus she didn’t get any substantial role of her age.  Even after entering her teenage, many approached her for child characters.

She said in a talk with NYLON, “There were many times where I was seriously considering quitting and stopping. Nobody tells you this until you get there, but there’s an awkward phase in your life where you’re going through puberty, and there’s a two-year span where work is just extra hard to find. I was too old for the young roles and too young for the older roles. It was really frustrating. You finally have to get that one job that moves the meter.”

But before it would get too late, Jenna was approached for a character in Netflix’s “You” in 2018. It is a psychological thriller where Jenna played a 15-year-old Ellie Alves. There she got an opportunity to grow herself as an artist and that was the moment when she took back her decision to quit.

Recently she was seen in the crime thriller movie “Finestkind” and soon she will appear in “Wednesday” season 2.
