Rani Mukerji Reveals Karan Johar Did Not Allow Hotel Staff To Give Her Food During The ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ Shoot

During the 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' shoot, Karan Johar instructed the hotel staff not to provide food to Rani Mukerji.

The iconic Bollywood movie ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,’ released in 1998 and helmed by director Karan Johar, recently became the subject of discussion on ‘Koffee With Karan 8’ as lead actresses Rani Mukerji and Kajol reminisced about anecdotes from the film’s shoot.

During the show, Rani Mukerji, now a beloved figure among millions, made startling revelations about her experience while shooting the movie. She disclosed that director Karan Johar, imposed a unique diet plan, instructing the hotel staff not to send food to her room to aid in shedding weight, specifically to fit into the iconic orange mini skirt.

Detailing the incident, Rani recalled a moment when KJo had confiscated food from her hands during the shoot. Shedding light on the situation, KJo explained, “I had instructed Rani to lose some weight as she had to wear a short skirt in Mauritius. She promised to shed 4-5 kilos, but unfortunately, she gained them instead. I was concerned about how she would fit into that bright orange skirt. So, we directed the room service to withhold any food delivery to her.”

Surprisingly, KJo revealed that Rani’s mother was aware of this directive and supported his unconventional idea, leaving the actress astounded.

Rani further recounted an incident during breakfast when KJo intervened and took her plate away, stating, “Karan came up to me and said, ‘You can’t eat this,’ and abruptly snatched the plate from my hands.” However, she clarified that KJo promptly returned her plate and lauded him as the most considerate person on the film’s set.

The candid revelations on the talk show offered a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the beloved film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.’
