Producer Anand Pandit Confirms Randeep Hooda Takes Over Mahesh Manjrekar To Direct Swatantra Veer Savarkar

After Mahesh Manjrekar stepped down from the director's role Randeep Hooda is said to fill up the void.

Swatantra Veer Savarkar is another biopic in the line to be made in Indian Cinema. The producer and distributor Anand Pandit announced the film with Randeep Hooda front lining the film. After Mahesh Manjrekar stepped down from the director’s role the leading actor is said to fill up the void.

Mahesh Manjrekar who was supposed to direct the film opted out due to his prior commitments that clashed with the dates of Swatantra Veer Savarkar. The director and makers parted ways on a mutual decision. Ahead of the planned shoot schedule Mahesh walked out of the movie, and now after a while, Anand Pandit informed that Randeep Hooda will don the director’s hat.

In a new interview with Free Press Journal, Anand Pandit said, “As a producer, I wanted Randeep to direct the film, but then I thought Maheshji would be able to spend time and he is a good filmmaker, but he has got some other commitments and then we parted on a good note and now Randeep is going to take over as a director.”

He further added, “Randeep is already into the script, he character, he knows everything about Savarkar. He would be the safest bet for me because this period film needs good justification and we do not want anyone to take it for granted or if somebody is busy and cannot give full time to it.”

Randeep Hooda will not just only headline the film in the titular role but also direct it. He replaces the ace director Mahesh Majrekar. The actor who has appeared in a lot of movies including Once upon a time in Mumbai, Highway, and Sarbjit to name a few, will not get into the shoes of a director. This would be Randeep Hooda’s first directorial movie.

Randeep Hooda will portray the role of the great Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who is honored as Swatantra Veer Savarkar. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was an Indian politician, activist, and writer, who developed the Hindu nationalist political ideology of Hindutva while imprisoned at Ratnagiri in 1922. Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Legend Studios chose to present a movie on a leading figure in the Hindu Mahasabha.
