Director Mahesh Manjrekar Steps Down Randeep Hooda’s Swatantra Veer Savarkar Ahead Of Scheduled Shoot

Makers and director of Swatantra Veer Savarkar parted ways before the planned shoot, a new director is yet to be announced

Another biopic film is being made in Bollywood and this time it is about a freedom fighter. Filmmaker Anand Pandit had announced his next production Swatantra Veer Savarkar. Randeep Hooda will play the role of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

The latest development around the film reports that director Mahesh Manjrekar has stepped down from the project. The filmmaker parted ways ahead of the planned scheduled shoot. Mahesh had his prior commitments and couldn’t match the dates of Swatantra Veer Savarkar, hence he opted out. Therefore, he won’t direct the film ahead and a new director will join the team.

Despite the walkout of the previous director, the shooting schedule will proceed further as planned. However, the new director is not announced yet but it will be known soon. Makers and the directors parted ways with a mutual understanding, but won’t let this affect the film schedule.

Producer Anand Pandit said, “Mahesh Manjrekarji is a very good director.  We will definitely work together in future. Our film, Swatantrya Veer  Savarkar, requires absolute dedication and time. But due to Maheshji’s prior commitments, we could not match the dates as per our decided shooting schedules.”

Randeep Hooda is hoping if he can live up to the challenges while portraying the great Indian freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. Sharing the motion poster Randeep wrote, “This is a salute to one of the tallest unsung heroes of India’s struggle for freedom and self-actualisation. I hope I can live up to the challenge of filling such big shoes of a true revolutionary and tell his real story which had been brushed under the carpet for so long.

Wishing you all a very Happy Veer Savarkar Jayanti!”

On the 139th birth anniversary of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, the first look of Randeep Hooda portraying the freedom fighter was unveiled. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was an Indian politician, activist, and writer, who developed the Hindu nationalist political ideology of Hindutva while imprisoned at Ratnagiri in 1922.

Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Legend Studios chose to present a movie on a leading figure in the Hindu Mahasabha. Swatantra Veer Savarkar is co-produced by Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh and Sam Khan, Roopa Pandit, and Zafar Mehdi.
