Not each and every star kid gets as successful a career as their parents, but they struggle on their own and make their place in the Bollywood film industry. Mahaakshay Chakraborty and Namashi Chakraborty are two of them. Sons of Disco Dancer Mithun Chakraborty and Yogeeta Bali, Mahaakshay known as Mimoh and Namashi are still struggling but giving their best performances. Both the brothers faced major disappointment from their debut ventures. Now they are heading towards their new production house. In an exclusive interview with Lehren Retro, both actors shared about the film legacy in the family, their film careers, nepotism, and many more.
In an exclusive conversation with Lehren, Mimoh Chakraborty 39 and Namashi Chakraborty 31 updated about their careers. Mahaakshay entered the industry through “Jimmy” released in 2008, but the movie didn’t do well at the box office. Talking about his film career in Bollywood, his younger brother Namashi said that Bollywood didn’t take him seriously as Bollywood was busy favoring other star kids. He also mentioned that if his brother had got as many chances as Abhishek Bachchan got, he would have rocked it. On the other hand, Namashi did face the same failure as his debut movie “Bad Boy,” released in 2023, flopped at the box office due to its revised schedule and worst exhibition.
Both of them also shed some light on the film career of their mother, Yogeeta Bali, who opted to be a full-time homemaker after her marriage with versatile actor Mithun Chakraborty. Yogeeta Bali was one of the most graceful actresses in Bollywood known for her movies like “Parwana”, “Aakhri Badla” etc. But they said that it was her choice to stop working after marriage. When they were asked whether they had seen their parents’ work, Namashi said that he had watched all the films of his father, but somehow he couldn’t watch his mother romancing with anyone else that his father.
Mimoh and Namashi elaborated on their family tree, which includes 4 siblings along with 16 pet dogs and Mimoh’s wife, Madalsa Sharma. The Chakraborty brothers have stepped into the production.
