Oppenheimer Actor Cillian Murphy Wins Best Actor At The Irish Film and TV Academy Awards

The Idea Of You actress reveals an incident from the 2000's when she was asked to kiss 10 guys for the on-screen chemistry check in order to get casted in the project.

Cillian Murphy is flooded with honors & awards for his remarkable performance in Oppenheimer. Cillian has now won Best Actor at the 21st Irish Film and TV Academy Awards, following his huge victories at the BAFTA and Oscars 2024, as reported by Variety.

While being honoured with the award, he said, “God, I’m still so brutal at this…But being in this room is so special – being at home, with people that I love and admire amongst my fellow nominees and some of my favorite people…It feels lovely being home with so many friends and colleagues.”

Held in the Dublin Royal Convention Centre and hosted by Baz Ashmawy, the awards ceremony honored both recognized talents and upcoming stars in Irish cinema and television, celebrating achievement in the field. Murphy played the part of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s film, the American physicist who designed the atomic bomb. Speaking of his next endeavors, he is scheduled to play Tommy Shelby in the movie Peaky Blinders once again.

For the unversed, Oppenheimer grossed $970 million worldwide, becoming the third highest grossing film of 2023, the highest grossing World War II related film & the highest-grossing biographical film too.

In addition, Murphy will also produce and feature in the film adaptation of the non-fiction book, Blood Runs Coal. The book’s rights have been acquired by Universal. The 2020 book Blood Runs Coal: The Yablonski Murders and the Battle for the United Mine Workers of America serves as the inspiration for the project.
