Akshay Kumar had a rough ride at the box office in the past months. He is the Khiladi Kumar in Bollywood in terms of being an action hero and also in minting 3-4 movies a year. These days he is recognized as one of the busiest actors in Bollywood releasing movies every third or the fourth month. Amongst all his latest released movies he had his share of flops and hits. Here we have listed latest flop movies of Akshay Kumar that didn’t make big at the box office.
In the years 2021 and 2022 so far he headlined three movies namely Sooryavanshi, Bachchhan Paandey, and Samrat Prithviraj. Out of these three movies, two went flop at the box office. Akshay delivered two commercial flops in a row. Samrat Prithviraj went flop at the box office after a debacle of Bachchhan Paandey.

Bachchhan Paandey
Bachchan Pandey is an action-drama, starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Arshad Warsi, and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles. The story is of a director girl Myra who chooses to make a film on gangster Bacchchhan Pandey to succeed in the film industry. The action comedy film is a remake of the 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda which itself was inspired by the 2006 Korean film A Dirty Carnival.
Bachchhan Pandey had a low run at the box office. Makers invested rs. 180 crores in the making and could hardly earn rs. 73.11 crores. The movie is helmed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Bachchan Pandey is a remake of Tamil hit movie Jigarthanda directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
Samrat Prithviraj
Samrat Prithviraj is a historical movie based on the real-life story of 12th emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. Akshay essayed the lead character of the king who battled against the Mughals Muhammad of Ghor. Samrat Prithviraj barely made a noise at the box office despite being a historical story. Released on 3rd June 2022 the film was expected to be a hit but fell badly. Made at a budget of approximately 300 crores the historical action drama could only earn 90.32 crores.
Apart from Akshay Kumar the film also stars 2017 Miss World Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood, and Ashutosh Rana. This marks debut movie of Manushi Chillar who essayed the role of Sanyogita. Writen and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi the film is produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films.
These flops didn’t dismantle Akshay’s hope and strength. He is still in the game and has multiple movies in the pipeline. On the work front, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Aanand L Rai’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’. Amit Rai’s ‘Oh My God 2 (OMG 2)’, Abhishek Sharma’s ‘Ram Setu’, Raj Mehta’s ‘Selfiee’, and Ranjit Tewari’s untitled next are in his kitty. The Sooryavanshi actor has already finished shooting for many of these. And if to believe speculation he is in a process of signing Dinesh Vijan’s next project.
