Did Amitabh Bachchan Lend His Support To Changing The Name Of ‘India’ To ‘Bharat’?

Talking About Name Change, A Special Parliamentary Session Has Been Scheduled For This Month, From September 18 To 22

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan seems to have reacted to the proposal to change India’s name to Bharat. The actor took to his Twitter account, now known as X, and wrote, “भारत माता की जय,” along with the Indian flag emoticon in his post.

Talking about name change, a special parliamentary session has been scheduled for this month, from September 18 to 22, to discuss bills that would remove the word “India” from the Constitution and officially change the country’s name to ‘Bharat’.

On the work front, Big B will be seen in the magnum opus “Kalki 2898 AD,” scheduled for release in 2024. The movie also stars Prabhas, Kamal Hassan, and many others.

While on the other hand, the Congress party criticized the government for this move and pointed out that Rashtrapati Bhawan had sent out invitations for a G20 dinner on September 9 in the name of the “President of Bharat” instead of the usual ‘President of India’.

Jairam Ramesh, in his post on X, commented on this development, saying, “So the news is indeed true. Rashtrapati Bhawan has sent out an invite for a G20 dinner on Sept 9th in the name of ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ‘President of India’. Now, Article 1 in the Constitution can read: “Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States.” But now even this “Union of States” is under assault.”

Ramesh went on to criticize the Modi government, stating, “Mr. Modi can continue to distort history and divide India, that is Bharat, which is a Union of States. But we will not be deterred. After all, what is the objective of INDIA parties? It is BHARAT—Bring Harmony, Amity, Reconciliation And Trust. Judega BHARAT Jeetega INDIA!”

The debate over renaming the country has sparked discussions and differing opinions across the nation, as India’s identity and history are deeply intertwined with its name.
