‘Ram Gopal Varma Is My Creative Godfather’, Rajpal Yadav On His Cinematic Journey & Early Career Choice

Rajpal Yadav earlier wanted to become a politician, but he realized his zone of interest and stepped into acting. "Jungle" by Ram Gopal Varma gave him recognition in the film industry.

When there is a topic of humor, we remember that one face, the comedy king Rajpal Yadav. The Chup Chup Ke actor turns 53 on March 16. Rajpal Yadav is a legend who has portrayed many iconic characters on the screen. This young guy from Uttar Pradesh came to Mumbai in 1997, and has made his place in this glamorous as well as talented world of Bollywood. But the Bhool Bhulaiyaa actor humbly gives the credit of his long-lasting journey in Btown to Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma. He called it a creative Godfather.

In an exclusive interview with Lehren, Rajpal Yadav disclosed his fascinating journey in the film industry. Before entering this field, he thought of becoming a politician. But after spending 3–4 months at regional level politics, he understood that it is not his forte. He said that politics is much beyond his emotions and ideology, it wouldn’t value his emotions and work. And hence he dropped his first thought of joining Rajniti (politics).

Later, this actor acquired the academics of acting from NSD. He built himself with practical and theoretical knowledge and stepped on the land of Mumbai, a dream city. He expressed his faith towards this city and called Mumbai as his second mother who provided him with an opportunity to earn and survive. “Agale pachas janam tak bhi Mumbai ka karja nahi lauta payenge hum”, he added.

After doing theatre, he got his first major break in a serial “Naurangilal”. Ram Gopal Varma’s “Shool” was a movie which marked his entry on the silver screen. “Jungle” by Ram Gopal Varma was another venture which gave him recognition amongst critics as well and his career’s graph changed drastically.
