Sangram Singh Creates History! First Indian Male Wrestler To Win MMA Championship, Defeats Pakistan

Sangram Singh, a 39-year-old wrestler, actor and husband of actress Payal Rohatgi, has made history by becoming the first Indian man to win a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight at the Gama International Fighting Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia. In the final, Sangram faced Pakistan’s Ali Raza Nasir, who is 17 years younger than him. Despite the age difference, Sangram won the match in just one minute and 30 seconds, making India proud.

After the win, Sangram said, “Winning isn’t just about defeating your opponent, it’s about overcoming your own limits. Age doesn’t matter when you have determination and the will to succeed.” Competing in the 93 Kg weight category, Sangram showed that experience and mental strength can be more powerful than youth.

Sangram Singh is already well-known for his success in wrestling. He won the Commonwealth Heavyweight Wrestling Championship and has represented India many times internationally. What makes his story even more inspiring is how he overcame health problems when he was younger. Sangram suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and was once unable to walk. Nilesh Maniyar & Shonali Bose’s ‘A Fly On The Wall’ To Premiere At The 29th Busan International Film Festival

‘A Fly on the wall’ competes in the Wide Angle – Documentary competition section of the festival. Having co-written landmark titles such as The Sky is Pink and Margarita with a Straw acclaimed filmmaker duo Nilesh Maniyar and Shonali Bose’s latest work, a feature documentary, is set to have its world premiere at the prestigious 29th Busan International Film Festival.

The film has been selected for the Wide Angle Documentary Competition section, which highlights unique and inspiring cinematic documentary filmmaking voices from around the globe.

In this powerful and heartfelt film directed by the duo, a friendship walks the distance between life and death. With just a week to go before their friend Chika Kapadia’s appointment for physician assisted suicide, Nilesh encourages Shonali to turn the camera on herself too and become part of the story. Alongside editor Tushar Ghogale they weave a profound tale of the choice of dignity in death and friendship. The film is set against the stunning backdrop of Switzerland, a location ironically familiar for many iconic Bollywood films.

Speaking about their selection at Busan, Director Nilesh Maniyar said, “Chika was a friend who gave more than he took. And what a life altering impression he left on me in his last days. Hence it was only apt to tell his story via a lens of friendship that Chika and Shonali shared for 25 long years. With the premiere at Busan, we hope to further the conversation about the right to dignity in death, as in life.”

“Fulfilling Chika’s dying wish and shooting this film has been the hardest challenge of my filmmaking career. This film is my love letter to Chika and to life. I am honoured to premiere it at Busan, a festival that values such deeply personal stories.” Added Filmmaker Shonali Bose.

A Fly On the Wall marks the third feature film collaboration between Maniyar and Bose presented at the Busan Film Festival, following The Sky Is Pink and Margarita with a Straw.

The 29th Busan International Film Festival will take place from October 4 to October 13, 2024.

BookMyShow Issues Warning To Fans Amid Coldplay Concert Hype

BookMyShow, who is the whole and sole provider for the official tickets, lagged as users tried to log in. However, after the tickets were sold out, the authorised platform noticed some malpractices occuring in the name of re-selling of tickets. Several fans discovered platforms that claimed to be having tickets after they were sold out on the official website. It was noticed that the resale prices were just double of the original prices, which already seemed expensive. Addresing the concern, BookMyShow issued a warning to all the Coldplay fans on their instagram, protecting them from the ongoing scams.

They shared a note that read, “It has come to our attention that unauthorised platforms are listing tickets for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India, both before and after the official sale. These tickets are invalid. Ticket scalping is illegal in India and punishable by law. Please don’t fall prey to this because you will be buying fake tickets. Avoid scams! BookMyShow is the only official platform for ticket sales.”

Because the ticket prices are comparatively higher than any usual concert tickets, frauds and scams are very much prone to occur. The craze was high last weekend when fans swarmed the internet with recurring memes and verbal opinions on the fast-selling of tickets. Looking at the considerably higher buzz for the Coldplay concert, the team announced a third show, slated for January 21st, 2025. Now, there will be three total shows scheduled for 19th, 20th and 21st January respectively.

Another big achievement for India as another Bollywood film makes it way to the Oscars. Latest release, ‘Laapata Ladies’ is chosen in the 97th edition of Oscars. The Film Federation of India (FFI) on Monday announced that the Kiran Rao-directorial Laapataa Ladies has made India’s official entry for Oscars 2025. The film faced a strife with 29 other films including Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, and Kartik Aaryan’s Chandu Champion. It is a big achievement for India as Bollywood has once again made its mark on a global level.

The final decision was made by a 13-member select committee with Assamese director Jahnu Barua heading it all. It comes out as a huge success for the Kiran Rao film as Laapata Ladies has managed to defeat the blockbuster hits like Kalki 2898 AD, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’.

Earlier, Laapata Ladies was released in Japan, after it garnered much love from the Indian audience. Dubbed by Japanese artists, the film saw huge appreciation at Japanese theatre as well. Sharing the news to her instagram family, Kiran Rao wrote, ‘Laapataa Ladies will be found in Japan from October 4, 2024! 🥳👏🏽 We are so excited for our theatrical release in Japan by Shochiku, Japan – arigato gozaimasu!’

In addition to the Bollywood films, the film also competed with other hollwood and regional movies that have performed beautifully at the big screens. Cannes winner All We Imagine As Light was in contention from Hollywood. On the other side, Telugu film Hanu-Man and Malyalam’s award-winning Aatam also featured in the contending list.

However, Richa is not alone in facing backlash for her maternity photoshoot; this kind of trolling has affected many actresses and female celebrities before her. For the unversed, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal welcomed their first child, a baby girl born on July 16. Tollywood legend Chiranjeevi has once again shown why he is known as the Megastar of Indian cinema. On September 20, 2024, Chiranjeevi received a Guinness World Record for his amazing contribution to cinema, specifically for his incredible dance performances. This achievement is a proud moment for him, his family, his fans and for the Telugu film industry.

Chiranjeevi’s latest achievement is a big milestone in his 46-year-long career. He has been recognized as the Most Prolific Film Star in Indian Cinema by the Guinness World Records for his dance performances in more than 537 songs, where he performed 24,000 dance moves. The official certificate reads, “The most prolific film star in the Indian Film Industry-actor/dancer is Konidela Chiranjeevi aka Megastar (India) achieved on 20 September 2024.”

His fans have always admired his unique and energetic dance style with songs like Bangaru Kodi Petta, Ammudu Let’s Do Kummudu, Dayi Dayi Damma and many more becoming classics. These iconic songs and his unmatched dance moves are remembered fondly even today.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan had the honour of presenting the Guinness World Record certificate to Chiranjeevi. Aamir shared his admiration for Chiranjeevi, saying, “When Chiranjeevi Garu asked me to come to this event, I told him, ‘Sir, you don’t need to ask, you just need to order.'”

Chiranjeevi, during his acceptance speech, expressed his happiness by saying, “This moment is unforgettable. I never aimed for a Guinness World Record, but it feels great to be recognized for my dancing. It is dancing that made me a star and gave me many rewards throughout my career.”

This achievement has made the entire film industry proud. Famous director SS Rajamouli took to social media to congratulate Chiranjeevi, saying, “Just read that he performed 24,000 dance moves in his career. What an incredible journey of 46 years! Congratulations to Chiranjeevi Garu on achieving the Guinness World Record.”

Chiranjeevi’s family, including his daughter-in-law Upasana Konidela, celebrated this moment. She shared, “Congratulations to my Mamaya Megastar Chiranjeevi Garu for achieving the Guinness World Record as the Most Prolific Film Star in Indian Cinema, with 156 films and 24,000+ dance moves across 537 songs in 45 years!”

Chiranjeevi’s journey from being a newcomer in the industry to a Guinness World Record holder is nothing short of inspirational and it is important to note, seventeen years ago, he humbly stated that he wouldn’t accept the title of “legend” in the film industry until he truly earned it. “I will store it in a time capsule and after 25 years, if I’m deserving, I will accept it,” he said. Today, with this Guinness World Record, no doubt he has earned that legendary status.

Apart from this prestigious honour, earlier in 2024, Chiranjeevi was also awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour, for his contributions to cinema and society.
