Kumod Raney was known as a successful entrepreneur and the founder of Reign Beauty bar in Dubai. And beyond her professional life, she shared a close friendship with the Khan family that reportedly spanned for many years.
Not only Salman Khan but the entire family came together for the final rites, Bhaijaan was joined by his brothers Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan. Family members including Salma Khan, Helen, Arpita Khan Sharma, Arhaan Khan and Nirvaan Khan were also present to pay their respects.
One of the videos circulating online shows Salman struggling to control his emotions while speaking to those present. Other clips also show younger members of the family were seen visibly affected by the loss.
These videos quickly went viral and fans started pouring in messages of support and condolences on social media. As watching their idol’s emotional side was very rare to witness away from his regular films and public appearances.
Its been days since its release and the discussion around the portrayal of women in Peddi continues to grow, now actress-politician Kangana Ranaut known to speak her mind has shared her perspective on this issue. While promoting her upcoming epic true-events based film Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, the actor spoke about how performers can address situations where they feel a character may be presented in an uncomfortable way.
Her comments come shortly after the film’s director Buchi Babu Sana apologised for certain scenes in Peddi and confirmed that changes would be made following audience feedback.
“Aap Apna Side Rakh Sakte Ho”
Speaking to PTI, Kangana Ranaut explained that filmmaking is a collaborative process and actors should not hesitate to express their concerns.
She said, “By and large, as per my experience it has always been that when I agree to do a film, there are so many various perspectives… you can bring light to that and say, ‘Thoda sa aisa bhi sound kar raha hain yeh’. They may not want to objectify or something but aise toh koi bhi filmein nahi banana chah raha hain ki aao inko objectify kare.”
The actor further added, “Maine kya dekha hua hain ki woh log uss tarah se sochte nahi hain… ki oh achcha aisa lag raha hain. As a woman aap apna side rakh sakte ho. Ha, ye aisa lag raha hain, ki aap aisa kehna chah rahe hain aur ye achcha nahi lag raha and mostly sab agree karte hain ki nahi nahi hum ne actually socha nahi ki as a set of men hum logo ne jab likha tab nahi laga ki galat tha. Toh aisi baatein ho jaati hain. Agar aap kaam kar rahe hein kisi film pe toh its like a collaboration.”

The controversy began after several viewers raised concerns about the portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor’s character, Achiyyamma. Some felt the character lacked depth, while others questioned scenes that appeared to blur the line between romance and consent.
A particular sequence that involves a kiss without consent became one of the most discussed moments from the film. Critics also argued that certain shots focused more on the character’s appearance than her role in the story.
Just two days after the release of Peddi, film’s director Buchi Babu Sana has publicly addressed the criticism surrounding around the movie and confirmed that changes will be made to certain portions.
The outrage that happened during film trailer’s unveiling or after film’s release mainly revolves around the portrayal of leading lady Janhvi Kapoor’s character. Several viewers felt that despite being an important part of the story, her character lacked any depth. Others questioned the way some scenes were filmed which revolved around her, claiming the focus was placed was placed more on her appearance than the emotions of the character.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), director Buchi Babu shared long note by acknowledging the audience’s concern.
He started with – “As a filmmaker, I believe cinema should entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. It should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. We have heard the feedback regarding certain scenes in Peddi and have taken it seriously.”
And the filmmaker further clarified that disrespecting women was never the intention behind the film, “I have always had immense respect for women, both on and off screen, and it was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. If any part of the film has been perceived that way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns being raised, and sincerely apologize,” he added.
As a filmmaker, I believe cinema should entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. It should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. We have heard the feedback regarding certain scenes in Peddi and have taken it seriously.
Confirming that the team has reviewed the feedback, he added, “After reviewing the feedback, we have decided to make changes to the concerned portions.” Also reflecting on the responsibility that filmmakers carry, Buchi Babu said, “Cinema grows through its connection with audiences, and as storytellers, we have a responsibility to be mindful of evolving perspectives and sensitivities.”
The Uppena (2021) director concluded the note by stating, “Every woman deserves to be respected, valued, and represented with dignity. We remain committed to telling stories that celebrate strong characters and uphold those values.”
While Ram Charan starrer Peddi opened with strong audience interest, the conversation around its portrayal of woman has become one of the film’s biggest talking points. With the makers now promising cuts and edits, all eyes will be on how these changes shape the film’s journey in the coming days. It also remains to be seen what lies ahead for Peddi, which only recently arrived in theatres on June 4, 2026.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Movie Review:
It’s all there in the promo. Jass Ahuja (Varun Dhawan) is caught between wife Bani (Mrunal Thakur) and girlfriend Preet (Pooja Hegde), both women pregnant with his baby.
David Dhawan takes a little over two hours to extricate Jass from the mess, armed with Yunus Sejawal’s screenplay and Farhad Samji’s dialogues.
‘Vaat laagli’ (You’re effed) is Jass’s caller tune. When in a mess, the caller tune is mock fun.
Manoj Pahwa. Rajpal Yadav. Johny Lever. Teachers from Jass’ student days arrive in flashbacks every time he’s in a situation, to advise him on how to extricate himself out of it. A wacky way of padding the madness with more comedy.
Rakesh Bedi. Chunky Panday. Add to the comic chaos at the hospital where Jass is on double duty, hiding one pregnant woman from the other.
Ali Asgar as judge in Jass’ divorce with Bani, his wife of five years. A comedian at every turn, however far-fetched, just to keep up the frothy momentum.
Jimmy Shergill as Preet’s fierce brother, gun by his side. He’s not the joker, his presence is supposed to provide comedy.
Manish Paul as the hero’s sidekick, too familiar in that role to bring humour to any scene.
Mouni Roy forced in only for an additional dash of short clothes and seduction while Bani, Preet and their glamour are on maternity leave.
Lines that rhyme. Dhoko, roko, thoko. Textile mill. Tread mill. Bahar aake mil. The latter by Rakesh Bedi to the double duty dad is quite funny.
Vintage David Dhawan of the 1990s largely relies on packing the narrative with known comedians, hoping their appearance will keep the fun going. And he leans heavily on nostalgia which is the only reason ‘Chunnari Chunnari’ works and the new tunes are mere noise for Varun to prance to.
After plodding heavily at the beginning, David gathers comic pace sluggishly, the hospital and chaos of babies being born, building into a comedy that brings on a few silly smiles.
It is the first half where DD’s jawani looks long expired, every sequence is stretched witlessly.
What keeps it going is an infectiously energetic Varun Dhawan whose comic timing, even a reference to ‘why do people call me bhediya?’ perfect in its timing. If only dad and his writing team were also in their prime.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai – Watch it or not? An entertaining second half and Varun’s energy are all that will draw you into a theatre.

BandarMovie Review:
Right up, the first person to compliment would be Bobby Deol for playing a washed-up entertainer. It’s not every day that a mainstream actor would play Samar Mehra, a 50+ loser with a somewhat loose abs to match and outstanding EMIs. Man Friday too hasn’t been paid for months. No wife, no marriage, girlfriend Khushi (Saba Azad) was found on a dating app. But hopes of the big break as hero linger, as it does in most actors.
And then he’s hit with a rape charge by Gayatri (Sapna Pabbi), a stalker from his recent past.
The rawness and the indifference of cops inside a police station may have been seen several times before but Kashyap directs a sequence that’s part humour, part horror especially as a senior in charge (brilliantly played by Jitendra Joshi) takes off on Samar’s WhatsApp chats. His ‘Benjo…’, his way-out explanations, his Trimurti reference to Subhash Ghai, are so well-written and well-enacted that there’s laughter even as the noose tightens around Samar.
Maybe writers Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee have handed Anurag the perfect script.
But, similar to the suddenness of Samar’s predicament, the viewer is thrown without warning into a murky mess.
At some point it stops being about a false charge of rape.
Anurag’s fascination for filth takes over and dominates – cops with gutters in their mouths, undertrials whose introduction to the grime behind bars is punishment even before a judge has pronounced a sentence, faeces, lizards, cockroaches, men heaving inside toilets to excrete hidden narcotics.
Brief glimpses of Gayatri the stalker. Sapna Pabbi, gorgeous.
It descends into a stalker and life in prison story, more sick than stark.
Also, does Kashyap say anything we haven’t seen before?
We were introduced to disturbed stalkers in the last millennium. Clint Eastwood’s classic neo noir psychological thriller Play Misty For Me (1971), Demi Moore’s Disclosure (1994) and our very own Priyanka Chopra’s version of it in Aitraaz (2004) have all been predecessors of Gayatri.
The rot in the system and the dirty life of men in jail was also filmed with starkness by Madhur Bhandarkar in Jail (2009) and again, for a short while, in Raju Hirani’s Sanju (2018).
Therefore, except that it makes a very grotty watch, Kashyap has nothing new to show. Worse, none of it is linear in its telling. Swift flashbacks have to be stitched together for coherence.
There is also a glaring absence of logic. Samar Mehra has a loyal Man Friday, security guards and WhatsApp chats to back his defence that Gayatri is a stalker he had blocked. But none of it is even referred to as he’s thrown in jail without bail until he succumbs to the system.
With the legalities dealt with indifferently and the focus on filth, Bandar is once again Anurag Kashyap monkeying around with actors and a budget.
The good? Bobby Deol, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad (the girlfriend who walks away), Sanya Malhotra (Samar’s sister who gives up on him), Jitendra Joshi and the rest of the supporting cast.
But do you have to endure gangs inside jails, men dancing merrily (a la Satya without the same impact) and unwashed toilets for over 140 minutes just for some brilliant performances?
Bandar– Watch Or Not?: Only diehard Kashyap fans who look for social statements in his cinema will applaud this dark and meandering film.
The Hindi film industry woke up to a sad news on the morning of June 4, as veteran filmmaker and former Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani passed away at the age of 76. Reportedly, he was dealing with liver-related health issues for sometime.
Filmmaker’s family confirmed the news in an official statement which also revealed the details of his last rites, “With profound grief, we inform you of the passing of our beloved Pahlaj Nihalani on 4th June 2026. The cremation ceremony will be held today, 04.06.2026 at 3 pm at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium. We are grateful for your thoughts and prayers as we bid a final farewell,” the statement read.
A Career That Spanned More Than Four Decades
Pahlaj Nihalani began his journey as a producer in the early 1980s with Haathkadi (1982), followed by Aandhi-Toofan (1985). And ove the years, he gave life to several popular commercial films including Gunahon Ka Faisla, Paap Ki Duniya, Mitti Aur Sona, Shola Aur Shabnam, Andaz and Talaash.
However, one of his biggest successes came with 1993’s Aankhen film, starring Govinda and Chunky Pandey, which became one of the highest-grossing Bollywood releases of its time and remains a memorable comedy entertainer even today.
Apart from film production, Nihalani also served as a chairperson to CBFC from 201 to 2017. During his tenure he sparked frequent discussions around censorship and film certification, making him one of the most talked-about figures in the industry during that period.
And in later years, he continued producing films including Julie 2 and Rangeela Raja.
Whether as a producer backing commercial entertainers or as the head of India’s film certification board, Pahlaj Nihalani remained a significant part of Bollywood’s legacy and his contribution to the industry will be remembered for years to come.
The onscreen chemistry of Sushmita Sen and Salman Khan remains memorable even today. From Biwi No. 1 to Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, the duo shared a warm charm that audiences loved during the late 90s and early 2000s. Now, as the iconic song Chunnari Chunnari from Biwi No. 1 gets recreated in Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, let us look back at the bond the two actors shared both on and off screen.
Sushmita Sen On Working With Salman Khan
In a throwback interview with Lehrenduring the promotions of Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge in 2002, Sushmita spoke openly about working with Salman and how their friendship became stronger over time.
She shared, “This is my second film with Salman Khan. In our first film, there were so many people involved that we didn’t really get the chance to know each other well. In this film, from the beginning to the end, we’ve been very comfortable working with one another.”
The actress explained that unlike Biwi No. 1, where there was a large ensemble cast, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge gave them more time together on set which helped them connect better as co-stars.
“That’s What Makes Him Salman Khan”
Talking about Salman’s personality, Sushmita spoke warmly about his nature and innocence, “Salman Khan is a man who is like a child and that’s what makes him Salman Khan,” she said while describing what makes the superstar so unique.
She further added, “And in this film he has utilized it very well, as there’s a very emotional side to the man in this film, and I personally think it’s one of his better performances.” Her words reflected the comfort and understanding they shared during filming, something that clearly translated onto the screen as well.
“Working With Salman & Dia Felt Like My Own People”
The 2002 film also starred Dia Mirza in a leading role. Speaking about her experience with both actors, Sushmita said the atmosphere on set always felt warm and personal like a “family”.
“Salman & Dia both felt so much like I was working with my own people,” she shared.
The actress also praised Dia Mirza for her beauty and calm personality, saying the actress carried grace both inside and outside the camera frame. Want to know what Sushmita had to say about her Miss India contemporary? Watch the full podcast below.

A new controversy has emerged around the upcoming film Kala Hiran: The Battle Of Legacy. The project recently grabbed attention after its poster was unveiled with the makers describing it as a story inspired by real-life legal battles. However, Salman Khan’s legal team has now stepped in, claiming that the film appears to be connected to the actor’s long-running blackbuck case.
According to reports in IANS, Salman Khan has sent a legal notice to the makers, asking them to immediately stop the development, promotion and release of the film. The notice also seeks the removal of promotional material already released in the public domain.
The legal notice argues that Salman Khan has “neither authorised nor consented to the use of his name, persona or the alleged incident associated with him in the proposed film.”
Salman Khan’s lawyers have further stated that the blackbuck case remains under consideration before the Rajasthan High Court. The notice reportedly also claims that the proposed film could interfere with judicial proceedings and affect the actor’s right to a fair trial.
The legal team has also asked the filmmakers to issue an unconditional written apology. Failure to comply, the notice states, could lead to civil and criminal proceedings.
Directed by Bharat S. Shrinate and produced by Amit Jani, Kala Hiran: The Battle Of Legacy is said to blend courtroom drama with crime-thriller elements. The film reportedly draws inspiration from real-life events and legal disputes.
The makers had announced that the teaser would be released on June 20. However, with legal proceedings now underway the future of the project remains uncertain.
The world of Bandar, starring Bobby Deol, continues to grow darker, grittier, and even more intriguing with every new reveal from the film. After creating massive buzz with its explosive teaser that offered a glimpse into an unconventional world filled with raw emotions, haunting chaos, and unpredictable characters, and following the release of its recent track, ‘Kyun Mazaa Aa Raha Hai’, the makers have now elevated the excitement further by unveiling the film’s next song, ‘Pinjara’.
Composed and sung by Amit Trivedi, with hard-hitting lyrics penned by Sudip Sharma, ‘Pinjara’ is a powerfully intense track layered with an energetic yet haunting vibe. The song features Bobby Deol and Raj B Shetty, with Raj B Shetty stealing attention through his electrifying dance moves during a celebration in jail. At the same time, the visuals delve into Bobby Deol’s complicated and chaotic dating life, showing him constantly trapped in desire, obsession, and emotional turmoil, while Sapna Pabbi’s mysterious presence follows him everywhere.
Sharing the video, the makers wrote, “Not escaping this chaos!! #Pinjara video out now Bandar in cinemas on 5th June –
Written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee (Paatal Lok, Kohrra, Udta Punjab), Bandar stars Bobby Deol alongside Sanya Malhotra, Sapna Pabbi, Saba Azad, Raj B Shetty, Riddhi Sen, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jitendra Joshi, and Nagesh Bhonsle. The film is produced by Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks and backed by Zee Studios. Bandar releases in cinemas worldwide on 5th June 2026.
Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has landed in legal trouble just days before its release. Producer Vashu Bhagnani and his production house Puja Entertainment have filed a Rs 400 crore lawsuit in the Bombay High Court against Tips Industries, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar Taurani and filmmaker David Dhawan.
The case is related to the alleged unauthorised use of songs from the 1999 film Biwi No. 1, including the popular tracks Chunnari Chunnari and Ishq Sona Hai.
What Is The Dispute About?
According to the lawsuit, Puja Entertainment claims that the makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai did not have proper permission to use the songs and related visual material in the new film and its promotions.
Speaking to ANI, Advocate V K Dubey said, “We have filed a suit with a claim of Rs. 400 crores to the Tips Music Company. The legal battle has been increasing for many days and the rights of the musicians were not ready to be settled.”
He further explained that earlier agreements only covered audio rights and not visual rights. “In 2018, Tips had emailed us and asked for visual rights. Vashu Bhagnani had replied to them, but their conversation did not settle,” he added.
Release Could Be Affected
The production house has also requested the court to stop the release, streaming and promotion of the film until the matter is resolved. Along with this, they have demanded removal of the songs from the film and even asked for a title change since Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is linked to the original song Ishq Sona Hai.
Meanwhile, Tips Industries has denied the allegations and claimed they legally own the music rights.
Directed by David Dhawan, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur and is scheduled to release on June 5.
