Coronavirus Pandemic: New Zealand Prime Minister Announces Four-Level Alert

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a new four-level warning system to battle Covid-19 and has cautioned against any non-essential New Zealand travel. Read below to know more.

Amidst the novel coronavirus outbreak which has paralyzed the whole world, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced an alert system for COVID-19.

Jacinda said that all people over 70-years of age or who have a compromised immune system, should stay at home as much as possible.

She further advised against non-essential travel within or outside New Zealand.

The number of confirmed cases in New Zealand as of Saturday is 52. And the Ministry Of Health cannot rule out the risk that there has been community transmission as well.

New Zealand has already taken measures to combat the spread of novel coronavirus. It has already sealed its border to all the travelers except for NZ citizens, permanent residents, residents with valid travel conditions and also their partner and child.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID-19 has surpassed the 10,000m mark and Italy has been the worst hit by this pandemic after China.

Till now Italy has reported over 627 more deaths pushing its total to 4,032.

In Spain, more 1000 deaths were reported while in Iran, the death toll hit the milestone of 1400.

Globally over 2,35,000 people have been tested positive for COVID-19.
