As Independence Day approaches, we automatically start feeling patriotic and wonder what we can do for the betterment of our country. So this year, as India enters its 73rd year of being an independent nation, here are a few things you can start doing immediately.
Stop wasting our limited resources: This Independence Day, take a pledge to be a responsible a citizen while using the limited resources we have and try not to waste food, water, electricity, etc. We have limited resources available, therefore, wasting them will only harm our future.
Stop using plastic: Plastics are one of the most threatened substances for our planet. Any number of bans is not able to make us understand that downright silly to make use of plastic bags as they could do so much harm that we cannot even think of.
Start planting a tree: Just don’t make this Independence Day another holiday you can make it special by taking the initiative to make our environment greener. Be responsible and do not litter in your surroundings, encourage people to support the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Just plant a sapling in your neighbourhood, or motivate others to do the same.
Stop Violence against Children and Animals: Weaker section our society like Children are more vulnerable to crimes, Child labour, Child trafficking and abuse. You can try to bring awareness by reporting the crime. Mahatma Gandhi has once said, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated.” This Independence Day, you can also contribute to various animal welfare projects, NGO’s.
Stop discrimination: Any form of discrimination is a cause of concern not only in India but abroad as well. Hence, it becomes important to educate yourself about it and bring change. One needs to understand it is not ok to call somebody Nepali, chini, momo. It is not ok to judge any individual on their colour, gender cast or creed.
