1300 Defence Personnel Donate Blood To Delhi Riot Victims

1300 Defence personnel have donated blood to the victims of riots despite the clash between cops and civilians.

Amid the communal riots and clash between Cops and civilians in Capital city Delhi, 1300 Defence personnel have donated blood to the victims of riots. According to a CAPF official, about 500 personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 400 from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 350 from the Border Security Force (BSF) and 100 from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force donated blood at the camp. 

He also added that the chiefs of these forces- CISF Director General Rajesh Ranjan, BSF chief V K Johri and ITBP DG S S Deswal led their personnel at the AIIMS blood donation drive. 

A senior official said, “The donation was made in order to supplement the blood bank of the GTB Hospital where fatal and non-fatal casualties of the Delhi riots were being admitted since Monday.”

Over 35 people have lost their lives and more than 200 people have been injured in the riots in northeast Delhi that began on Monday. 

As per the Home Ministry, around 7,000 central paramilitary personnel have been deployed in northeast Delhi since February 24. Additional deployments include 112 Delhi Police senior officers and 200 women police personnel. 

Addressing the unrest in Delhi, PM Modi had tweeted, “Peace and harmony are central to our ethos. I appeal to my sisters and brothers of Delhi to maintain peace and brotherhood at all times. It is important that there is calm and normalcy is restored at the earliest.”
