Rakesh Roshan’s movie “Koyla” may not have been a major success at the box office, performing below average, but it has left a lasting impact on people’s minds due to its mesmerizing locations, soulful songs, powerful acting, and thrilling action sequences.

The film boasted an ensemble cast with top actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Amrish Puri, Ashok Saraf, and Johnny Lever in lead roles. Among the many memorable scenes in the film, one iconic moment stands out, featuring Shah Rukh Khan running with fire engulfing his body. What makes this scene even more astonishing is the fact that no body double was used; Shah Rukh himself took on the risk and performed the dangerous sequence.

In an old interview with Lehren Retro, where the entire making of the film was revisited, Shah Rukh Khan was asked about that particular scene. He humbly shared, “Everyone was asking me how I did this.  Aag lage ke bhaga, tu un sab ko batana chahunga, ki jab, camera mein aisa nahi boal sakta, jab insaan ke piche aag lagti hai tu woh bahot teez bhagta hai.”

While Shah Rukh Khan’s dedication to his craft was evident in his fearless performance, he made it clear that he wouldn’t repeat such dangerous stunts in the future. He remarked, “There were a couple of dangerous shots in the film that we have already done and finished. If someone asks me to do them again, I will not agree.”

Nevertheless, his director, Rakesh Roshan, and other cast members lauded Shah Rukh’s bravery and called him a guy with guts for taking on such a challenging sequence.

Despite its box office performance, “Koyla” remains a film cherished by many due to its memorable moments and Shah Rukh Khan’s unwavering commitment to delivering an exceptional performance, even in the face of danger.
