Prithvi Theatre is one of the most popular threates in Mumbai. It was founded by legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor in 1944. In 1975, a trust was set up by his son Shashi Kapoor in his memory with an aim to promote professional theatre, promote aspiring artists, host and conduct workshops. Prithvi Theatre has shows every day of the year except Mondays, hosts an annual Summertime programme of workshops and plays for children, an annual Theatre Festival in November, and many partnership programmes promoting language, poetry, international cinema & documentaries, performing arts.
