Poonam Pandey’s recent death publicity stunt has sparked extreme outrage and criticism from the netizens. On Friday, Poonam’s team announced her death stating that the model and actress died due to “cervical cancer”. However, later Poonam shared a video finally revealing that she is “alive” putting an end to the controversy.
However, her death PR stunt didn’t sit well with people. Reacting to her fake death stunt, several celebrities from the Bollywood industry came out and bashed Poonam Pandey criticizing her for faking her death in order to promote cervical cancer.
Taking to Twitter filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri wrote, “If it was a strategy, then I’d say it’s a very bad strategy. Now everyone has forgotten about such an important issue like ‘Cervical Cancer’ and they are focussed on the pathetic gimmick.” In a follow-up tweet he wrote, “Actually, it was a marketing campaign for @thehauterrfly. Watch the end and the logo on right upper corner. How sinister, how pathetic.”
Pooja Bhatt also shared her reaction and tweeted, “I never delete tweets but did so in the case where I expressed my shock at news of Poonam Pandey’s demise due to cervical cancer. Why? Turns out the news was engineered by a digital/PR team. Absolute disgrace & disservice to those battling the same-her included.”
Tahira Kashyap wrote in her Instagram stories, “Witnessed the lowest of lows today. Oscillating emotions between being triggered, angry, shocked and disbelief. What are we becoming? How important is breaking news? At what cost? So put off by the cheap publicity stunt. Not naming just because the person doesn’t deserve any importance whatsoever.”
Actress Sonal Chauhan tweeted, “Sonal Chauhan wrote, “Absolutely Shameful !!! A whole new low!!! Death is not a joke. Cheap and in such poor taste. One needs a to draw a line somewhere.”
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also slammed Poonam Pandey and demanded action against the actress and model.
Arti Singh also bashed Poonam Pandey and wrote, “Disgusting… this is not awareness .I lost my mother when I was born coz of cancer……just not acceptable: u are playing with everyone emotions . Shame and it’s shocking tht people can stoop down to this level….”
Reacting to her post Bipasha Basu commented, “Beyond pathetic behaviour. The pr ppl behind this should be ashamed too… not just this person.”
