Watch! “Taali” Trailer Shows Fierce Sushmita Sen Fighting For Transgender Rights

Sen Portrays Gauri In The Movie, Depicting Her Struggles And Her Fight For Transgender Rights Within The Community

The trailer for Sushmita Sen’s upcoming film “Taali” has been released, offering a glimpse into the life of Gauri, a transgender character who challenges societal taboos and stereotypes. Sen portrays Gauri in the movie, depicting her struggles and her fight for transgender rights within the community. The actress is stepping into the role of transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.

Sen took to her Instagram to share the teaser, captioning it with, “Gauri aa gayi hai. Apne swabhimaan, sammaan aur swatantrata ki kahaani lekar. #Taali – Bajayenge nahi, bajwayenge!”

However, the release of the film’s first look drew backlash, as Sen revealed in a recent interview with News18. She recounted, “The first poster of Taali that I had released had half my face and the clap. I remember that in the comment section, there were lots of nameless people as social media is full of, writing ‘chhakka (eunuch)’ repeatedly. I thought, how can they do that to me? I took it very personally because it was happening on my timeline. I, of course, blocked all of them. But it hit me that if that’s how it’s making me feel when I’m only portraying Gauri Sawant’s life, they’re living with it every breathing moment of their life.”

Sushmita Sen, renowned for her titular role in Aarya season 2 on Disney+ Hotstar in 2021, is now set to captivate audiences in “Taali.” The series is scheduled to start streaming on JioCinema from August 15, offering a poignant narrative that aims to shed light on the experiences and struggles of the transgender community.
