The film narrates the tale of a modest singer whose bold lyrics spark both fame and controversy throughout Punjab. As he navigates through newfound success and harsh criticism, his journey tragically concludes with his premature demise.

The film is a biopic of the late musician Amar Singh Chamkila, who died on March 8, 1988, at 27. Amar Singh Chamkila was Punjab’s top-selling record artist at the time. Starring Diljit Dosanjh as the titular character and Parineeti Chopra as his spouse and musical collaborator Amarjot, the movie depicts their story.
