Taylor Swift Gives Savage Reply To Damon Albarn As He Accuses She Doesn’t Write Her Own Songs

Taylor Swift's response came after Albarn alleged that the pop singer "doesn't write her own songs and relies on the aid of co-writers."

Taylor Swift called out Damon Albarn on Twitter for ‘discrediting her writing’ after the Blur frontman said that she does not write her own music during a recent interview with the LA Times. Replying to him, Taylor tweeted, “I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write all of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and so damaging.”

Taylor added, “You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f*** up to try and discredit my writing. Wow.’ While in another tweet, the singer wrote, “PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering.” Swift’s response came after Albarn stated the pop singer ‘doesn’t write her own songs’ and relies on the aid of co-writers. After pop music critic Mikael Wood praised Swift’s songwriting abilities, Albarn aired his belief that ‘co-writing is very different to writing.’

“I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes. Doesn’t mean that the outcome can’t be really great,” he told the outlet. The British musician went on to praise Billie Eilish as a ‘really interesting songwriter’ and her brother Finneas O’Connell. “I’m more attracted to that than to Taylor Swift. It’s just darker less endlessly upbeat,” he said of the 20-year-old Bad Guy hitmaker.

He continued, “Way more minor and odd. I think she’s exceptional.” But Albarn’s potential attempts to bring rivalry between the two artists will likely prove pointless. Although Eilish and Swift have yet to collaborate, the women have been seen hugging at events and cheered each other during their respective 2021 Grammy Awards performances.

However, Albarn later apologized, claiming his comment had been ‘taken out of context and used as clickbait.’ Replying to Taylor’s tweet, he wrote, “I totally agree with you. i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. – Damon”
