The queen of Latin Music, Colombian singer Shakira, has been honored by her hometown, Barranquilla. Shakira took to her Instagram to express her excitement and emotion towards this overwhelming gesture by her hometown. She mentioned in her post that she felt very excited about the tribute to a Colombian woman.

This 21-feet statue of Shakira was created by the artistic hands of Yino Marques. It features the iconic dance step of ‘Whenever, Whenever’ singer from the song ‘Hip Don’t Lie’, released in the year 2005. Shakira shared a series of photos on her post. There is an image of her tall statue and other images of where Shakira’s parents, William Mebarak Chadid and Nidia Ripoll Torrado stand near her statue and pose. In one image, the Mayor stands with her parents in front of her statue.

She wrote the caption for the series of these photos, saying, “1. It makes me happy to share this with my parents and especially my mother on her birthday. 3. My parents, the mayor and I back there watching!. 4. Oh and this dedication. This is too much for my little heart. 5. My fathers and my brothers with our mayor.”

There is a message under the statue dedicated to that creative piece. It says that, “A heart that composes, hips that do not lie, an unmatched talent, a voice that moves masses and bare feet that march for the good of childhood and humanity.”

Shakira has been awarded with Grammy Awards two times and her recent release El Jefe was a hit and received millions of likes.
