Jungkook’s Song Seven Accused Of Plagiarism, BIGHIT Breaks Silence

Recently reports claimed that BTS Jungkook's solo song "Seven" had been plagiarized, reacting to the same BIGHIT has now broken the silence on the matter.

A month after the release BTS idol Jungkook’s solo song “Seven” grabbed the headlines after the singer was accused by composer Yang Joon-young of plagiarizing for his new solo song. Reacting to the allegations BTS agency BIGHIT broke the silence on Tuesday as they issued a statement regarding the controversy.

Recently some reports claimed that BTS idol Junkook’s solo song “Seven” is plagiarized, and that the song borrowed a main portion of the song Time of Mask by Fin KL. Reacting to the same, BTS agency BIGHIT issued a statement. As per a Soompi report, the agency stated that the claims of copyright infringement regarding Jungkook’s Seven were not true.

The statement further stated that Jungkook’s song Seven was made through the collaboration of five foreign composers. Furthermore, the song is completely unrelated to the song on a domestic album from 24 years ago therefore the claims are not true. They further stated that the claims are only “one-sided” which do not meet any criteria such as substantial similarity and principles in determining plagiarism.

About Junkook’s Song “Seven”

For the unversed, Seven is a new solo by BTS idol Jungkook. The song recently topped several charts and broken many records and the latest is the Billboard charts. The song has repeatedly topped the Billboard charts. As per Billboard, four weeks ago, Seven became the ‘first leader on the lists for a member of BTS as a soloist’.

“Seven” surpassed 400 million streams on Spotify. “Seven” is also the third fastest song overall to reach 400 million streams, followed by Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” in the first place and Harry Styles’ “As It Was” in the second. Seven was released on July 14, 2023. The song was sung by Jungkook and featured Latto.
