Ed Sheeran has recently announced that he and wife Cherry Seaborn have secretly welcomed their second child. The singer took to Instagram to announce the shocking news. Sheeran shared a picture of a white pair of baby booties. Alongside the snap, Ed penned in the caption, “Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x.”
Ed’s Instagram post was showered with several congratulatory messages from his fans and friends. The couple are already parents to elder daughter Lyra Antarctica, whom they welcomed in August 2020. The star had announced the birth of Lyra in a similar way, sharing a snap of her baby socks on a blanket alongside his message. Meanwhile, last year, Ed said he plans on quitting major tours after this one, so he can spend more time with Cherry and Lyra.
The couple reportedly only confided in their closest family members about the pregnancy. Ed’s spokesperson confirmed to The Sun, “Ed and Cherry recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl and are on cloud nine. They’re so excited for Lyra to have a little sister and the four of them are currently enjoying some precious family time before Ed heads back on tour. We are delighted for them, and we hope that you can respect their privacy at this special time.”
Speaking on the Open house Party podcast in June, Ed revealed he would be ‘super grateful’ to add more members to his family. The West Yorkshire-born star said: ‘I would obviously be super grateful to be able to have any more kids, but I think girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say this. The loved-up couple are the childhood sweethearts, having grown up together in the same town.
However, they rekindled their romance in 2014 and tied the knot in a small ceremony five years later. Not a while ago, Ed Sheeran shared a rare glimpse into his marriage with an intimate snap of him with his better half on Seaborn’s 30th birthday. Taking to Instagram, Ed posted a photo of the couple lying in a hammock together, with their arms around each other. Alongside the sweet snap, the singer penned, “HBD to ma baby mama. 30 looks good on you.”
