Demi Lovato Reveals Why She Uses ‘They/Them/She/Her’ Pronouns

Demi Lovato recently gets candid on why she adopted she/her pronouns again and why she made that decision.

Demi Lovato has adopted she/her pronouns again, and the singer recently revealed why she made the change. During a recent interview, Lovato was asked to explain the concept of using pronouns they/them. The singer then revealed she’s adopted she/her pronouns again and why she made that decision.

Lovato explained, “I’ve actually adopted the pronouns of she/her again. So, for me, I’m such a fluid person that I don’t really… I don’t find that I am… I felt like, especially last year, my energy was balanced in my masculine and feminine energy so that when I was faced with the choice of walking into a bathroom and it said ‘women’ and ‘men,’ I didn’t feel like there was a bathroom for me because I didn’t feel necessarily like a woman. I didn’t feel like a man.”

The singer further explained, “I just felt like a human. And that’s what they/them is about for me. It’s just about, like, feeling human at your core.” Demi went on to share, “Recently, I’ve been feeling more feminine, and so I’ve adopted she/ her again. But I think what’s important is, like, nobody’s perfect. Everyone messes up pronouns at some point, especially when people are learning. It’s just all about respect.”

With that said, I will be changing my pronouns to they/ them.” Continuing on same, they continued, “I feel that this best represents the fluidity.”

They added, “I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person. I both know I am and still am discovering.” The caption for their video post which finally opened up on her gender expression read, “Every day we wake up, we are given another opportunity & chance to be who we want & wish to be. I’ve spent the majority of my life growing in front of all of you… you’ve seen the good, the bad, & everything in between.”
