Chris Evans Avoids Hosting SNL? Here’s The Reason

Evans and de Armas, who also starred in 2019's Knives Out and last year's The Gray Man, play a couple who approach on a date before realizing there is one in Ghosted.

There seems to be a reason Chris Evans hasn’t made his debut hosting Saturday Night Live just yet. During an ET Canada interview with Evans and Ana de Armas about their upcoming action comedy Ghosted, published Tuesday, the conversation turned to the fact that the blonde actress will mark her first time fronting SNL with her upcoming April 15 episode.

When asked about making a cameo in the episode with Karol G as a musical guest, Evans made it clear that a brief appearance would be far more appealing to him than hosting the NBC comedy series. “Well, now I can handle a cameo,” Evans replied. “I’ve avoided hosting SNL like the plague for years just because I’m so scared. But it would give me many sleepless nights.”

Later in the interview, Evans admitted his concerns may have stemmed from the star’s prior awareness of his ability to laugh. “Maybe I just feel that because I have really, really funny friends who once told me I’m not a funny person,” he said. “It would just be everyday anxiety, constant regret: ‘Why did I do that? I could have been comfortable in my house, in my bed, without worrying about it.”

Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, who also starred in 2019’s Knives Out and last year’s The Gray Man, play a couple who approach on a date before realizing there is one in Ghosted. There’s a lot they don’t know about each other, given the role de Armas is actually a secret agent. The film will be released on April 21 on Apple TV+.
