Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra, is all set for his upcoming movie “UT69,” which will hit theaters soon. In a recent interview with the Indian Express, he revealed that when he was named in a 2021 porn case, his family stood beside him and supported him. However, his actress wife, Shilpa, suggested he settle abroad due to the humiliation they were facing.
“My wife was actually the first person to say, ‘Do you want to live abroad, Raj? You left everything in London, where you were born and brought up. You moved here because I wanted to be here. But if you want, I can make things work, and let’s leave the country, let’s go abroad.’ I told her that I love India and won’t leave. Some people commit big crimes, make thousands of crores, and then leave the country, but I have done nothing wrong, so I won’t leave,” he reportedly stated.
He went on to reveal that he broke down many times due to the humiliation he was facing.
Raj added, “I had really broken down, to the point of probably ending things inside. I won’t use the word, but I was in a… There was so much humiliation and reputational damage. Because of me, the media went after my wife, children, and parents. That was painful.”
In July 2021, Raj was arrested and spent almost two months in prison. After he was released on bail, Raj always wore special masks to hide his face whenever he went out in public. But on October 18, during the trailer launch of his new movie, Raj finally revealed his face to the media after nearly 1.5 years.
