Bollywood has witnessed numerous rivalries, with some staying hidden behind closed doors while others play out in the public eye. One of the most notable cold war was between Jaya Prada and Sridevi. Despite starring together in several successful movies, reports suggest that they never exchanged a word off-screen.
It was either their co-stars or directors who had to initiate introductions on set. In a past episode of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show,’ Jaya Prada unveiled a behind-the-scenes story. She revealed, Rajesh Khanna and Jeetandra locked them in a room so they could do away with their differences but failed.
“Despite portraying perfect sisters on screen, we never shared eye contact. Our competition extended to dresses and dances. Whenever we crossed paths, it was the directors or fellow actors who introduced us, and we exchanged greetings before moving on,” she recalled.
“I still recall an incident during the shooting of ‘Maqsad.’ Jeetu Ji and Rajesh Khanna Ji locked both of us in a makeup room for an hour, hoping that confinement would spark a conversation. However, we remained silent throughout. Even the Bollywood superstars couldn’t bridge the gap between us,” she shared.
Jaya clarified that their discord was never personal, but their chemistry simply never aligned. She expressed missing Sridevi and expressed a wish that they could have communicated. The two actresses shared the screen in movies like “Aulad,” “Aakhree Raasta,” “Tohfa,” “Mawaali,” and more.
Sridevi departed from this world in 2018, she was discovered deceased in her Dubai hotel room. The cause of her death was determined to be cardiac arrest. Her final rites were conducted in Mumbai, attended by a multitude of fans and her loved ones.
